Travel to Bahamas after marriage but before AOS

Our wedding was last Saturday and before that I bought a travel package to the Bahamas for our honeymoon, which isn't until the end of November. Did I screw up big time and just waste a bunch of money? I get the sense that there is no way for me to get the proper paperwork I would need to take her out of the country in time. Or is it ok because it's only 4 days? Or because it's just the Bahamas?

I'm really hoping I don't have to cancel this trip and lose all that money.

She must not leave the US until she receives her EAD and AP. When you start the AOS process you will be able to file for 'AP' - advance parole - which would allow your spouse to travel abroad and return to the US to complete AOS. If she leaves her AOS will be considered abandoned and she will have to start it all over again.

I think you will end up losing the money you already put on the trip.

I would suggest talking to them and try to move the trip for a later date, as well, so you won't lose your money.

Well, I will definitely try to re-schedule. I also want to at least try talking to USCBP about it by phone, but I'm sure it will lead no-where. It should just be a simple form you can fill out at the airport for short-term travel permission, a 3 month wait for it seems ridiculous. But, that's how it goes.

You will need to wait until you get AP until you can take the trip. Call and explain and reschedule.

This is no joke!!!

All you will get by talking to the boarder patrol is the possibility of bad information that could ruin everything you have been working for since Dec 2012. Do not be mistaken!!!

Without AP you will be screwed.

Your K-1 is used and no longer applicable as you have a wife not a fiancé.

You will be forced to apply from the beginning of the beginning of the CR-1 process! It's not just a silly AOS deal that you need to start over from cozy Charleston. Your wife will be in Japan.

Talk to the travel supplier! Dare I ask which supplier? Beg, plead, cry offer to pay a penalty, change the destination for the same dates or push off the scheduled until next spring. Worst case...hold your nose and flush the cash.

People in K-1 status can get automatic revalidation. However, this only applies to travel to Canada and Mexico, not the Bamahas.
