Well, we would need to appeal to all Vj members, even those who have not filed I-130 petitions, if we are to have any chance at meeting the threshold of 100,000 signatures in 30 days. Of course, this would need to go viral to get that kind of attention. For comparison, another petition pushed on this site reached 600+ signatures, but for sure, this will be a more organized movement.

Only 150 petitions are required to get noticed and be searchable on the white house website. 100,000 guarantees response.

We should post it any way.

Since our cause doesn't really matter to most people, reaching that 100,000 seems impossible. The only way would be to go viral, or get real media attention. The best possible way would be to get some airtime, even on a political or immigration podcast. Again, since most people don't care about our cause that much, traditional media may not give the attention we need. Instead, we will need Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. They are our chance.

Anyone want to try to arrange an interview with this podcaster? https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/immigration-hour/id286588177 He as immigration attorney and former president of AILA, and he records a new episode weekly or bi-weekly.

I endorse this 100%. As a matter of fact I am planning starting a petition for the establishment of an oversight body for the National Visa Center (NVC) analogous to the Ombudsman that presently exists for the USCIS. It is my opinion that NVC contributes significantly to the inordinate delay in the visa process as their emphasis appears to be on delaying matters the processing of visa petitions as long as possible. In addition, the unprofessional and disrespectful manner in which their first responders deal with applicants needs to be addressed urgently.

The letter is updated and is ready for our heaviest promotion effort:

http://uscgreencardpetitionerscommittee.blogspot.com/

Please help.

Thanks to your efforts so far, we are getting some good traffic on the website, but we need more traffic and more comments. You can send emails with a brief cover letter and a link to 1. Everyone you know and ask them to pass it on; 2. To news organizations (reporters, editors, etc.), 3. To elected representatives and officers of the government, Senators, members of Congress, etc.

You can post a link to your Facebook or other social media sites and ask people to read the letter, post comments, and link to it.

You can post a link on all the immigration message boards and ask them to read it, spread the word, and post comments.

I recommend that those of you who are comfortable reaching out to partisan news organizations or shows that are opposed to the current administration, to email a link to the blog with a cover letter. Or call them. Whether or not we support their politics does not matter. They are more likely to adopt and highlight our cause, which can help us. I am talking about Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, people at Fox News – those kinds of people. This might be repulsive to some of you, but think of your families.

Let's get creative.

When the video is done, that can be added to the top of the letter.

We should ask and expect the support of DACA and Provisional Waiver beneficiaries. Our committee has no political position with respect to their policies. All we are asking, is that USCIS helps us as USCIS helped them.

I’ve read some comments recommending more detailed evidence to back up our claims in the letter. Please post those details here so that the letter editor can incorporate them. It is a good idea, although I do not believe that it is entirely necessary. The government knows that the claims are true, and we have cited enough facts, their facts, I believe, to make our point.

Oh, crud. So, when we get our NOA2s from USCIS, we will have to fight the same battle against NVC? Crud.

I think unaffected people will support us, but I agree that without them being affected, reaching 100,000 is impossible. Plus, I don't like how the existing petition is written.

I do interviews as part of my job, and I'd be happy to talk with the AILA prez. Thanks for finding this.

I was just on the White House petition site and noticed that the Obama administration responded to a petiton with a mere 6,000+ signatures. The topic of that petition? Green cards for advanced degree holders. If we can get numbers like that, maybe even we can get a response!

Alaskafan and I are in talks about the script, so give us a little more time, and we have some volunteers for recording video, but not enough. Please, fellow VJers, recruit more people for our vid! Once the vid goes live, we can link it to the petition and blog.

I'm searching for the right music, and have some royalty-free candidates. If anyone can put forward suggestions for, please do so.
