What is this world coming to when a 4 year old cant have a hug or give a hug without being punished........

Texas child suspended after hugging aide

December 11, 2006

WACO, Texas --School administrators gave a 4-year-old student an in-school suspension for inappropriately touching a teacher's aide after the pre-kindergartner hugged the woman.

A letter from La Vega school district administrators to the student's parents said that the boy was involved in "inappropriate physical behavior interpreted as sexual contact and/or sexual harassment" after he hugged the woman and he "rubbed his face in the chest of (the) female employee" on Nov. 10.DaMarcus Blackwell, the father of the boy who attends La Vega Primary School, said he filed a complaint with the district. He said that his son doesn't understand why he was punished.

"When I got that letter, my world flipped," Blackwell said in a story in Sunday's editions of the Waco Tribune-Herald.

La Vega school district officials said student privacy laws prevented them from commenting.

After Blackwell filed a complaint, a subsequent letter from the district said the offense had been changed to "inappropriate physical contact" and removed references of sexual contact or sexual harassment from the boy's file.

Administrators said the district's student handbook contains no specific guidelines referring to contact between teachers and students but does state that inappropriate physical contact will result in a discipline referral.

At 4 yrs old there is no inappropriate physical contact when hes giving a hug. a hug is a hug, he knows no different. HES 4 FOR CRAPS SAKE!!!

That is ridiculous. Human contact is an important part of a child's development. It is kids without hugs that end up causing Columbine massacres..

People like that should be knocked out. At least that will give them something legitimate to sue for. I would not say what is the world coming to but where is America heading due to the PC BS..

I was so angry when I first saw this. 4 and 5 year old kids want to sit in your lap, listen to you read stories, and give you hugs all the time. Now this kid might be confused every time he wants to hug his mom or dad.

That's just another case of kids not allowed to be kids anymore......between that and the 'educational' book for kids about illegal immigration, I just don't know anymore. Why are we in such a hurry for them to grow up? Being a grown up sucks. I'm gonna do my damndest to keep my child a child for as long as is reasonably possible, but that's not easy to do when this ####### is going on in the world......makes me sad!

I just realized this was in Waco Texas. I think the name says it all.

I thought that was the place where they had the mass suicides quite a few years back. They are a prime example of what happens when you do not get enough hugs as a kid..

one more stupid thing to add to the list....

one thing thats not mentioned... did someone see the child hug the teacher or did the teacher report it... whichever, its still pretty damn stupid!

If a 4 year old is guilty of sexual harrassment for hugging a Teacher's Aide (an Adult in supervisory position of power), then the Teacher's Aide should clearly be guilty of Sexual Molestation for allowing the hug to occur in the first place.
