Dear Elected Official,

As a native Coloradoan and excellent customer of the Internal Revenue Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have contacted the Department of Homeland Security in an effort to determine the process for becoming an illegal alien and they referred me to you.

My primary reason for wishing to change my status from U.S. Citizen to illegal alien stem from the bill which was recently passed by the Senate and for which you voted. If my understanding of this bill's provisions is accurate, as an illegal alien who has been in the United States for five years, all I need to do to become a citizen is to pay a $2,000 fine and income taxes for three of the last five years. I know a good deal when I see one and I am anxious to get the process started before everyone figures it out.

Simply put, those of us who have been here legally have had to pay taxes every year so I'm excited about the prospect of avoiding two years of taxes in return for paying a $2,000 fine. Is there any way that I can apply to be illegal retroactively? This would yield an excellent result for me and my family because we paid heavy taxes in 2004 and 2005.

Additionally, as an illegal alien I could begin using the local emergency room as my primary health care provider. Once I have stopped paying premiums for medical insurance, my accountant figures I could save almost $10,000 a year. Another benefit in gaining illegal status would be that my daughter would receive preferential treatment relative to her law school applications, as well as "in-state" tuition rates for many colleges throughout the United States for my son.

Lastly, I understand that illegal status would relieve me of the burden of renewing my driver's license and making those burdensome car insurance premiums. This is very important to me given that I still have college age children driving my car.

If you would provide me with an outline of the process to become illegal (retroactively if possible) and copies of the necessary forms, I would be most appreciative. Thank you for your assistance.

Your Loyal Constituent,

(and hopefully and illegal one)

My understand of the current proposal is that for certain illegal alient who have been in the US for more than 5 years and meet certain other requirements, they may have the ability to pay a $2,000 fine and income taxes (don't know how many years) in order to be able to adjust their status to LPR. I do not believe this proposal in any way allows these people to become US citizens anytime soon or without additional strict requirements. I could be wrong . . .

Once you are a LPR, you can adjust like anyother LPR, in this case probably after 5 years for most, 3 years for a few.

But it's not like paying the fine gives someone US Citizenship. There are many other requirements to be met before someone can become a USC.

So funny and so sad at the same time.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Not exactly - it's quite a bit more than that:

What are the requirements for becoming a naturalized united states citizen?

The ability to read, write and speak ordinary English .

A basic understanding the fundamentals of U.S. history and government.

Good moral character and an affinity for the principles of the U.S. Constitution

Very basic understanding of English, actually American English to be precise (Inglesi bastardo). Judging from some people that I know who passed.

Answering some very basic questions from a list of 100 (I know they are looking to change it)

Felons need not apply, seems fair enough, affinity? no idea what that means or how it is tested.

and don't forget that the illegal immigrants only have to pay Social security for 2 years and then they can retire and receive an income fro USA. That would save us 32 quarters
