Hi All/Saylin,

Case snapshot

F2A category / NOA1 on 09/05/2013 / NOA2 on 10/01/2013

Couple of questions

Currently waiting on NVC to receive file. and also filed for Naturalization.

Looking at the time frame I'm expecting to be naturalized at some point while my case is pending with NVC/Consulate. I know i can "upgrade" my application/petition by calling/emailing NVC.

Should i be concerned( like any additional documents filing or any other issue that can cause delay??) if I become USC after

  • Case Completed.
  • IL Letter received.
  • Right after Interview.

Also

What should be done in cases where there is an employment change after AOS has already been filed??

Thanks

According to your timeline, you just applied for naturalization. Unless you're lucky, it won't be approved anytime soon. You'll likely be done with the NVC process. And, depending on your priority date, you may even have an interview date assigned before your naturalization is approved. Regardless though, when you upgrade, I believe they require a copy of your naturalization copy. If you're still at NVC, then you'll send it to NVC. If you're at the consulate/embassy, then bring a copy to the interview.

If you've sent in AOS and have changed employment, then bring a new I-864 form to the interview, along with a new employment letter and as much pay stubs as you'll have on hand.

Hello,

I have my spouse's copy of passport and the Certified Original Birth Certificate, do i still need to submit Citizenship Certificate for IV bill? Does it also need to be translated in English?

Citizenship certificates aren't needed in the IV package. And the only time they're needed in the AOS package is when you have joint sponsors.

It'd be a good idea to have any birth or marriage certificates translated into English.

Another question: How long is it taking currently to generate Invoice Identification Number?

Thanks,

Same amount of time as the case number as they're generated typically at the same time.

Not sure.

Pay stubs and an employment letter are generally optional, so if you can't get an employment letter, it fine's. Just submit what you have.

Thanks Saylin. I actually got a call today. I spoke to a lady last week who nicely followed up with her boss and got me a letter with my salary. I was super touched that she did that. So, now I have everything I need. biggrin.png

Thanks! We definitely are lucky! I hope NVC receives your case soon.! I too was told 8 weeks on the phone and they received mine in about 3 weeks.

Thanks Kmg! 3 weeks would be awesome. Still nothing today...but I was only on hold for 11:30 minutes...lol. I'll call Weds and Fri. It's only 2 weeks tomorrow, so I probably need to be patient.... soooo hard to do isn't it? tongue_ss.gif

quick question guys, as soon as person is able to pay the IV bill he/she can submit the NVC paperwork just as with the AOS package????

Technically, yes, as the bar-coded cover sheet is available as soon as one pays. But I recommend you wait until the payment at least clears your bank account before sending it off.

I called NVC today to ask about when I can expect them to invoice me for the IV. The woman said that as of now they are taking 30 days to review any and all documents, including the DS-261. Blach

Oh boy...I wonder if that means it's also taking them 30 days to open new cases that are sent from the centers. I'm now 2 weeks since my NOA2 date and no word. They keep telling me to wait 8 weeks to call, but I'm going to keep calling. I have a feeling it'll be at least another week or two. I don't understand how it can be OK to take that long to do this kind of work.

They won't answer any questions for me because my case hasn't arrived supposedly.

Yes, yes, it was. Would have been nice to be where I am now 2+ months ago, but it is what it is. Thankful that my time at NVC wasn't as long as it could have been.
