Now I could not care less about a Tea Party, I don't even drink tea except when I am sick and it is forced on me as some sort of Gypsy medicine by my Ukrainian wife...

But the problem here was, and always has been, that we have a SYSTEM that allows this kind of thing to happen. Whether it is the Tea Party or Democrats...who cares? whether it really even happened at all this time...who cares? It COULD happen. This has been adequately demostrated that the taxing authority in the USA COULD abuse thie power.

We need to eliminate the system that alooows this and go to the FAIR TAX. Eliminate all forms of income tax, business and personal, with a constitutional amendment and replace the revenue with a consumption tax. A national sales tax. This will eliminate most of the IRS, eliminate any deductions, exemptions and credits which can be abused and used for political gain. Eliminate corparate welfare and make the USA the world's greatest tax haven for business. The off shore banking business will cease to exist and that money will be deposited in US banks to be used for OUR investment.

Our revenue system needs to produce a reliable stream of revenue that cannot be corrupted or manipulated by politicians.

I might need to catch up coz I haven't followed it much lately but this is the angle (I'm aware of);

There are three basic ways IRS employees could have broken the law. They could have violated:

1) Civil rights laws that protect people from being discriminated against by the government

2) The Hatch Act, which prevents civil servants from engaging in partisan political activity

3) Perjury laws, which prevent people from lying to Congress

For conservative groups and congressional Republicans, it may seem self-evident that the motivation was political, but proving that in a court of law is another matter entirely. Okay, one more time for the cheap seats in the back: There was no scandal. Issa and the Republicans hoped they could make one up but they failed because there was nothing of substance in these allegations. The fact of the matter is that not one of the supposedly singled out conservative groups saw their applications denied while that actually happened to an organization over on the left. Bummer, eh?

There's no scandal beyond what Issa is trying hard to manufacture. No laws were broken and the only group denied their desired tax exempt status was a Democrat organization. Odd how that happened since it has been alleged that only Tea Party groups were under the microscope. That's not really true. Never has been.
