This is my second trip to US. I came in with B2 visa in July. My I-94 expires in December… My boyfriend (a US citizen) asked me to marry him. After careful consideration I accepted the his proposal and we got married a couple of days ago... I do not think it would be a problem in proving that it is a bonafide marriage…

However, I am a bit confused on what steps we should take and in what order...

1) http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2 has some very useful information but is it up to date?

2) We understand that he needs to submit I-130 and I-864 AND I need to submit I-485 and I can submit I-131 and I-765. Is it possible to get the I-693 (medical examination) taken care of BEFORE we submit the package?

3) Do I need to submit only 3 passport size photos and he only 1 photo total (individual forms require more)?

4) Do we need to show joint property and other proofs with the I-130 or can we provide them during the interview?

5) Our marriage certificate will come within 3 weeks… and I want to change my last name… Should we use my current last name or the new last name in our applications? Where do we start changing the last name?

Thank you in advance...

Hello fellow Denver filer!

Congratulations on the marriage. I hope you would not take this the wrong way but do you intend to do your paper work in the US or are you planning on going back to do the process in your home country? Please read the pros and cons of consular filing vs. AOS in the US for B2. There are serious risks in electing to file AOS while staying in the US and you should study your options before you start your immigration journey. Good luck!

The 60/90 day rule is not a thing so that link in post 2 is bogus.

OP: The guide you have is up to date. You also need to read the instructions for each form available at uscis.gov. That should answer most of your questions. You can (and should) use your new name on the forms. Good luck.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

I agree with Harpa the guide is indeed up to date and is exactly what we followed 4 months ago, leading to my green card with no problem. you entered with no intent to marry so don't worry about that. Make sure to collect evidence of real marriage photographs of family etc. Yes you should get i693 medical and submit the civil surgeon completed form with your package.
