I'm pooped.

I just spent FIVE - I'm not kidding- five hours hunched over this computer completing a job application for an Office Automation Assistant with the Bureau of Public Debt here in good old Parkersburg, West Virginia. Probably the last secure place to work in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

I had taken a test for Public Debt back in April to be placed on the CASP register (Clerical and Adminstrative Support Personnel). I was pretty freaking pleased with myself that I scored a 94 and felt like I had a good chance of MAYBE being called for an interview SOMEDAY.

So last weekend I get a mass-produced letter saying they are no longer going to use the register for hiring. Ok great - back to square one. But the letter said they would be posting an announcement and applications need to made online. Meaning - it's YOUR job to watch for the announcements and if you really want to work for us it's up to you.

The announcement came out yesterday (Wednesday) and closes tomorrow night (Friday) at midnite. I told my husband - I'm going to work on this while you are at work Thursday night. It's going to be a big job and I need to concentrate. I knew the drill because I had applied online before but now I knew it was serious - I didn't have my CASP results to back me up.

Soooooooo, at 6:30 this evening I sat down to this machine and re-did my resume on their 'Resume Builder'. That took 1.5 hours - my only break was calling two of my friends that work there and asking if I could put them down for references. I then began the actual job questionnaire. Nineteen questions wherein you had to justify your multiple-choice answers to your skills. You are allowed 8000 characters for each justification - do you know just how many words that could be!

Oh...the very best part.....the last question was......do you have a CASP notice with a score of 85 or higher? YES!!!!!!

This took till 11:15 pm. All the while I'm praying the power doesn't surge or my PC bluescreen.

Damn, I hope they call me. I need this job.
