Hello there,

I was an F-1 student in Strayer university, VA,USA from 2008-2011. Out of 3 courses of a semester I missed 7 classes of one course because it was in another city, I was young and stupid to realize the strictness of F-1 student laws. I was out of status around April 2010 and applied for reinstatement. I was asked to submit documents to support my case of reinstatement, and I submitted. In the mean time, I was arrested by the ICE officers in my house on Sep 2010.

I was out of jail on bond. I then had court date June 2012, lost the case and I opted for Voluntary departure. I left USA September 2011, the date given by the court. Overstay of 9 months because of reinstatement, and court date, and voluntary departure process (ASAP program).

At the moment I'm in United Arab emirates, an expat of Bangladesh national. Strayer allowed me to graduate my last semester from UAE.

It been 2 years since I have been out of USA Sep 2011.

I want to apply for Masters in USA. Do I have any chance? Any waiver forms needed to be filled before applying? I will be returning to Bangladesh after my studies, where my family lives

Very slim chance, considering it;s only been two years and you want the same sort of visa (student visa).

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

What do you mean by only 2 years? Do I have a ban? I accepted voluntary departure. I left accordingly to the judges order. 9 months was because I was given a court date after 6 months. Isn't there some kind of waiver form for this scenario? Appreciate your response.

Your immigration issues were only 2 years ago, that is not a long time to have elapsed.

What can I do to show the consulate I will not violate the terms of F-1 visa?

Like in real words. I really learned my lesson. I did not know missing classes could lock you up in the immigration jail. There is always a learning for the first timers. I will think 2wice next time while taking any silly step.

Thanks

They always use your past behavior as part of the decision making process. You can cry to them all you want they will see you had to be hauled to immigration court to get you to leave last time. There is about 0 chance of another student visa

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

No I applied for reinstatement as soon as I realized I was out of status, I wasn't sitting down hiding. So I got a reply back saying that to submit papers to explain for reinstatement. During that process was I arrested by the IICE in my house.

We all know ICE doesn't go around knocking on doors and picking up people, or southern California would be a ghost town. There is more to the story you aren't telling and the fact that you were picked up points to the fact that ANY visa to the US probably isn't in your future.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
