Hey all. My fiancée is filling a 1-129F for me by September and I am new here I will really love to get more information on how to go about it and how long it will take, also I got an information from the USCIS site saying we should have meet in person within 2years before filling for the 1-129F and in our own case we haven't meet each other in person but we communicate a lot through E-mail, Facebook and phone calls I don't know if this could be ok please I need help from anyone that has ever been in such situation and has come out successful. Thanks your responds is very important.

Oh I will be denied please did you had such an experience before and if yes what did you do. I just checked the USCIS and I was told a waiver can be given to us if it has to do with our spiritual believe or his own financial challenge.

Hi! this helped a lot when we were starting with the petition too. And as with previous comments, you are required to have met him in person with 2 years of filing the petition. Also, please make sure he is free to marry, if he was married before etc. :)

Here is the link about the documents you need:

Here is the link about how long each step takes:

Good luck! :)

Those waivers are very, very seldom approved. I believe I once read about a couple who was in some obscure religious sect (and had a lot of proof that they absolutely were not allowed to meet) who got approved. Or a petitioner who could not travel because he was extremely sick, and his fiancée had unsuccessfully applied for multiple tourist visas to the US. Other than that, this is a pretty strict requirement. What keeps your fiancée back from coming to visit you?

My other question is, do you really want to marry someone you have never met in your life?

So are you saying one of us should invite each other well he is a minister of God and he is business with church work and also taking care of his old mom and for me am also a leader in my church and am busy with my business so I can't leave for now to his country on visit expect for marriage in also both of our believe doesn't permit that. That's just the reasons.

Sorry, I don't believe you. Very few religions dictate that two people can't meet face to face. What religion are you?

You cannot use being busy at work as your reason because you WILL be denied. The "meeting in person" rule is iron clad. The financial hardship part is more on people with disabilities, but even that has a slim chance of approval next to none.

You can file for a waiver if your religion prohibits you from seeing each other before marriage. However, you need to provide a lot of proof. And remember that there is an extremely small chance that this will be approved. If you are both healthy and able to see each other, I suggest to make time to meet. If you get denied, you will have to do the petition all over again.

You NEED to meet in person before you file. Period.

Is there any reason why you two can't meet? If you have a valid strong reason then you can apply for the waiver but regardless of that I think you should meet a person in real live to know them really well before even thinking of applying for them, talking to someone on the phone,or through facebook is not thesame like spending time with someone in real life so its best you two make an effort to meet each other before applying.

I guess we both need to make out time to see before filing for the 1-129F I will discuss this with him and ask him to send me a letter of invitation so that I can use it to go get a tourist visa in my country and for sure I will make out time this time to go over since he's is more busy than I. Thanks guys for your good contribution indeed this is an eye opening God bless you all.

you can apply for a b/2 to visit pay the fee. you chances are very slim being from Nigeria the consulate is very strict you need to show you have good ties to your country ,the invitation letter won't do much good. if he really loves you he should fine the time to visit you and then file the k-1 good luck
