I live in usa. I married my My filipina wife in usa in 2004. She told me and Immigration she had Never been married. However, i now have a certified AOM certificate that says she was married in 1998 to a man in PH. The AMA does not list Annulment and there are no remarks. It simpky lists her first marriage and then lists her marriage to me. Di you think she is still married?

I think after she divorced you in 2009, you should have just given up.

But now you are seeking yet another PI lass to marry, so finally yer getting round to digging on yer last lass.

IMO, since you married and divorced in the USA, and since you are a USCitizen, you must go by the laws in the USA for your prior marriage.

To heck with yer ex - just focus on this new lass - you've done nothing wrong...

PS - If I missed a bit, fill us in, a bit? I make wild assumptions all the time, given scant info.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Ya, as long as you are free to marry in the country you hold citizenship in and your fiancee is free to marry in the country she is a citizen of, then who cares what happened to your ex, unless you think she might try to prevent you from getting married. Bigamy is a crime, and they do put people in jail because of it, in the Philippines, but usually only if the jilted spouse has enough juice to get you arrested. If your ex, or her family is not wealthy or connected, I wouldn't worry.

If that Advisory on Marriages doc is just recently issued, then, yes, it looks like she's still married to the first guy.

That makes your marriage null and void, even if you got married in the US.

You can try and get ahold of their NSO Marriage Certificate. If they got annulled, it would be reflected there.

Thanks so much for your reply. She married me in 2004 but did not get Citizenship until 2011 because she was arrested early on in our marriage for assaulting me. Thus they delayed her citizenship. She moved out 1 year ago and filed divorce. We are still in court.

I recently received the AOM which indicates she was married to a man in PH in 1998. It also lists she was married to me in usa in 2004. The AOM dies not show a remark that she was divorced.
