Hi my VJ family,

If my fiance does his medical without his immunization records, how much will he have to pay to receive all shots needed including the fee? Also we have our medical Sept 2nd and interview Sept 13th is that enough time for embassy to receive the results? i know they said 10 days prior but it will be exactly 10 days on interview day. All advice is helpful. smile.png

P.S. - his medical will be done at Mobay Hope

We are in the same boat. Medical at MoBal Hope Aug 19 interview Aug 28. My finance was pretty adamant about getting the results back in time for the interview and MoBay hope does plenty of exams for Visas so I am guessing (and hoping) that is enough time.

As for the immunizations - what they told my finance was the cost of the medical was $120USD and that he should have $20,000JMD - $30,000JMD (est $200-$300USD) in cash in the event he needs shots. I would say your finance should try to find his immunization card if possible and have a clinic evaluate what other shots he will need and if possible get the shots at the other clinic as it will be cheaper.

I am not sure of the cost for the medical at Mobay I can speak of one of the places that Kingston that abour $16000.00 and vacines starts at $1000.00 not sure which vaccine is for that price because the nurse didn't disclose that to me. I met two women who were doing there medical on the same day I was doing mine and one of them told me that she was scheduling her appointment for Mobay and the cost was $20000.00 not including the vaccines she will be getting, I would suggest you to check with the other two medical locations in Kingston and get some information before settle for Mobay and try to call the office to see if you can pickup you medical at lease a day before the interview that way it will be better to have it in hand before than to pick it upon the same day as tour interview.

It would be easier for him to go to the clinic that he was getting his vaccine when he was younger and the nurse incharge there will look through his record and sign in the dates of all the vaccine he recieved oin a new immunization card, I did the same thing and paid $100.00 Ja to get it and he will be getting it the same day it only takes a few minutes.

Yes, around that amount I think should be fine. He also had is immunization card reviewed and got his necessary shots so we are hoping he will not receive too many on Monday. He was also told by the nurse at the clinic he goes to that the embassy doc's are more willing to accept the original immunization cards because they are easier to validate authenticity. I don't know how much truth there is in that but luckly his mom kept his record so he has the original.

After he is finished with his medical on Monday I will let you know how everything worked out and how much everything came up to.

We did ours in MOBAY. We paid 9,542.50 JMD for the physical and 7,850 JMD for three shots. You pick up your medical results 2 days before your interview in a sealed envelope.

We were told to bring $20k JMD to the medical to cover fee and possible shots. Hopefully, your fiancé will be able to locate his immunization records but I'm pretty sure immunization records don't become outdated. Maybe Tetanus shot could be outdated, I think you need to get that every 10 years. Good luck with everything.

I apologize I don't have an answer to your question as we aren't at that point yet but I am wondering if you can answer mine. The embassy received our DS230 last Tuesday Aug 12 and stated they would send a letter when an appt is set. When can we expect the letter, as it should be anytime now?

Thats ok. The embassy normally sends the appt letter within 2 weeks. But you can keep calling DOS to see if your date has been set. Also what email did you send your DS230 form?

Ok update - fiancé went to do his medical today at MoBay Hope. He didn't need any additional shots so all he paid was the $120 for the medical. If your fiancé finds his immunization card it's best he get it checked out at a clinic and get whatever else shots he needs before the actual medical. My fiancé was able to get his shots at a clinic in Hanover for free. Hope this helps!
