I just want to let everyone know that we did have an infopass appointment in place this Friday, June 7, to find out what is up with our K1 visa petition case filed on July 26, 2012. (Yes! We have been waiting for almost 11 months now, no RFEs no change in status, nothing.)

To sum it up in a few words, it is a complete waste of anyone's time to go thru the infopass (at least in our experience). There was nothing said to my fiance that wasn't told to him over the phone when he called to ask for the status of our petition. They just said there is a backlog and for us to just wait...no specified time on when the case would be approved/processed. And when asked why is it they (CSC) are able to process and approve January, Feb & even March 2013 filers, the uscis rep dodged the question by saying, Well we dont know that for sure. There is no proof of that happening.

So i was in disbelief really upon hearing this. So these people in VJ that are genuinely excited and joyful to receive their NOA2s are not real? (i myself am happy for them) They are not indicators that January, Feb & even March 2013 filers are indeed getting approved? Wow! Why cant they just be upfront and truthful with what is really going on...That is the most frustrating thing about all this.

No one can say we didnt do anything but complain. We contacted the senators (both of them) and the congresswoman, we went as far as emailing the ombudsman, and still nothing.

Any better ideas are welcome at this point as we are willing to go thru anything to get this petition going. We have waited far too long.

That is some looong waiting time...unfortunately I don't have any helpful ideas to bring to the table. I am very sympathetic and this is a shame it takes so long for them to review. Please don't give up!!! I wish you to stay strong and I'm sure your fiance, friends, family and VJ community will help you to go through this difficult time.

The Ombudsman is probably the only agency that can do anything for you.

If you have already contacted them then they should give you an initial response usually within 1 - 2 weeks.

thanks for the heads up. they did give a response to go to their web portal to send the inquiry thru there. then they responded with an email saying they will look into it and get back to us in 45 days. with uscis, it was 60 (when we called in january thru april, they said we are within processing time, when we called in May, they said call back in 8 days, then 15 and now 60) and with the senators and congresswoman about the same.

11 mos and still we have to wait 2 more months???? i dont mind waiting but i wish they are telling the truth and not get back to us after 60 days and tell us to wait some more...until when exactly, they cant tell...that is ultimately so frustrating.

thanks tho...your words gave us some hope. I would tell my fiance to follow-up with them.

God bless! i hope we get to hear from them real soon.

Thank you for your heartwarming message. we need all the prayers and positive insights from everyone and hope we can get thru this. We have been in this long distance relationship for 8 years and 5 months (to be exact) now that is why the wait is excruciating already. We were hoping to be together after 5 mos of filing the K1 but we sure didnt count on it to be this long!!!! i mean come on.....we are so close....why now???

sorry, i cant help but vent....it is just frustrating i wanna cry...

It's definitely not a question of whether your relationship is bona fide, 8.5 years prove a lot! It's the bureaucratic machine that brings so much grief and distress to the loving people...vent, cry, ride a bike, jog, anything that makes you feel even a bit better! Our hearts are with you! heart.gifheart.gifheart.gif

Send an email daily......check that.....send an email TWICE daily to USCIS, the Ombudsman, your congressmen, and even the President until your file is actually touched. If they use the backlog excuse and deny approving files from this year, show them a few WAC numbers to prove them wrong.

I know how much it can be frustrating coz we are going into 6th month yet no approval. this is the verse i read every morning i hope it helps you.

No, do not do this.

If the Ombudsman have said to expect a response in ~45 - 60 days then this means they have contacted USCIS and USCIS' response to the Ombudsman (who will in turn relay this response to you) can take up to that period of time. Emailing the Ombudsman twice a day when they have already taken on your case will serve only to piss them off and make you look foolish.

I am sorry to hear about your case. I am sure, it is far more frustrating than any body could understand. My case was just approved two days ago after 9 months with a RFE.

I think it is good idea to stick with one person either your local district congressman office or senator. Take advantage of local congressman office, if one is near by. Don't just rely on email, visit his/her office personally. They have one designated person to work with Federal agencies. They also have a speak-person in CIC. so, send them VJ website database of applicant with userID, NOA1 date, NOA2 date, RFE date. Remember, people who actually help you from congressman/ senator office are just hourlypaid-employees. So, be polite and be objective as much as you can. Make them happy to help you. Thats what I did and I think that worked.

In a mean time, have some patient, stay strong. God bless you.

Thanks, and I'll keep that in mind if I ever end up in the same predicament the OP is currently in. The thinking behind what I suggested is that they, indeed, will get pissed off, and therefore take action just to get rid of the pestering emails. If I were in the OP's shoes, I wouldn't care if I pissed them off, as they would have pissed me off ten times over.
