Okay, so if you have a child who was born in the US, has dual citizenship and was listed on the petition but not as a beneficiary does the kid have to go with you to the embassy for an inteview? I read a few post like - "my fiance and her/our daughter showed up at the consulate at 7 am......" I just hope that that was merely due to lack of a babysitter not because it is a requirement of some sort. If I have to take my 7 yo extremely inquisitive child with me to the embassy I will but I'd much rather not have to. Any ideas? Thanks.

I have had that question before but no don't take your baby with you to the interview, It wont make it any better or any worse. The baby will just be bored of the long waiting and you will need to stay calm and not stressed, But if you want the CO to know that you have a baby and its a legitmet relationship, I can promise you he already knows :)

Best luck for you.

Good luck

If the children are travelling with you or going afterwards, then yes, they do need to go with you, but check with your local embassy to make sure. I'm not looking forward to taking my 3 children for the interview, but I'm applying for the K2 visa for them as they are travelling with me.

If the child needs a visa, then the child will likely need to show up at the interview.

If the child is a US citizen, no need to come to interview. In fact, I would recommend not bringing them- it can be hot and stuffy and crowded, and you may be waiting many hours.

Look at the requirements for the embassy involved. I know that children under 14 do Not have to be there for interview in Ukraine, but 15 and above are required to be present. Children will be required to have medical exam same as parent for K1 /K3 visa. Or at least is so in the Ukraine.

Your child is a US citizen, you dont have to bring him/her to your interview.
