Just curious, how long did everyone know their fiancee before you filed? Zhenya and I have known each other for a pretty short time, although I guess once this is all done we will practically have grown up together. :) Anyway, just curious if others are in the same boat, or if you have known each other longer? How do you get by being apart for so long?

It's been 7 years for us. We met online in 2005 and finally met in person July 2006. In 2009 we actually started researching for me to move there, but life happens. Family obligations then work kept me here, and family obligations kept him there. Life for both of us finally stabilized and he'll be out of debt and ready to move in October. We just filed, still waiting for noa1, and with timelines and such, he's looking forward to moving in late January so he can have one last Canadian birthday/bachelor/going away party.

But as for shorter times, at least you don't have 7 years of nagging from everyone about when you'll get married, or where you'll live. We were going to keep everything secret and not let anyone know until he showed up and just didn't leave, but I couldn't take the questions anymore. Lol.
