Nothing wrong with a gal using what can come naturally to get out of a tight spot. It has saved me a lot in mechanics fees too at times so I didn't get ripped off like often happens to women. Flirting can go a long way if handled correctly and has little to do with equality IMO. There are plenty of men out there that flirt to get what they want too.

I'm not talking, sex kinda flirting when it came to the mechanics, just really friendly which is me anyway. It would never be taken as a come on or anything because that wasn't how it would come across to them. 'The poor helpless woman' isn't in my vocabulary either. There is a big difference between a flirt and a tease. The police incident was a one off and as I said, I did have to get up the courage to say it. You were a rare breed of mechanic and good on you for not seeing a way to make an extra dollar, because most women I know including myself did and do get ripped off.

{sorry for snipped quotes, there were way too many and I only had 1 question}

Did you get ripped off with the bill by mechanics or not?

Personally I don't get speeding tickets, not because I flash my cleavage at the officer-but because I do not speed. I don't get ripped off at the mechanics because I find out what is wrong with my car and the average repair price for the job in my town. No one gets a flash/flirt or whatever from me in lieu of anything.

Equality all round. We want equality, we have to take bad with good. If I sound harsh-sorry, I am just so tired of the "glass ceiling" It is harder to be taken seriously as a professional if there are women openly encouraging the notions that a flash at a cleaveage will get them out of tight spots.....Ladies that cherry pick "how equal" they want it; make it harder for the rest of us to be taken seriously IMO.

Liefde is een bloem zo teer dat hij knakt bij de minste aanraking en zo sterk dat niets zijn groei in de weg staat

IK HOU VAN JOU, MARK

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

I used to get ripped off yes. Then I chose how not to. I know where everything is on the inside of a car, but I'm totally lost under the hood. I choose not to know as cars hold no interest to me at all. When my marriage broke up, I was like whoaaaaa and scratching my head when things went wrong. I had no one close that I trusted to help me and found that every time I went to a mechanics they would always rip me off and find more wrong with my car then there actually was. That is total #######. I rebelled against them and found a way to get a fair price. I've always had ample cleavage, I can't help that

So you are able to find the average repair price in your town and go with that. I guess that depends where you live. Where I lived they were all as bad as each other in seeing $$$ when a women drove up, especially one that really honestly had no idea about cars. They took advantage so alls fair IMO.

The one thing with me is that I don't cherry pick. I've never been a part of the burn the bra brigade. Not that I have anything against them...I respect and admire them.......its just not me. I have brains but I love being a woman and am old fashioned in many ways when it comes to men, woman and relationships and have never really been career orientated. If I'm going to be crucified for supposedly making things harder for the rest of you, then so be it. I don't have to be a part of it. Thats my choice and I am who I am.

Women want to be treated as sex objects or toys when they will benefit and treated equal to men when the same women will benefit. I think women should decide which standard they want.

Bottomline is that women will always be sex objects to men and are most often less intelligent. But I know very intelligent women exist, but they are very rare. These are my opinions, but it is the truth if you think about it.No matter who says it, these are the facts.

Yep. The reality is that people (strangers) will have different first impressions of you when you first confront them depending on how you present yourself. We all put on our own charm (or defense, depending on the person). I worked for years in retail and a genuine smile goes a long way in how people interract with you. On the flip side, some don't know how to be subtle with their charm and it can backfire as Platypius (Larry) mentioned. I've had plenty of situations where a person would start talking to me going heavy with the charm and alarms were going off in my head - "Oh brother, what do they want?"

That's what I mean. Equality is a two way street. You just said it much clearer than me. :)

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

joel. is this the advice you gave your sucessful ukrainian business-woman wife when she landed here? natasha has never had to use her assets as leverage.to her that feeds the myth that she hates, of the foreign bimbo bride with nothing but good looks and breasts to bargain with.

it should be noted that radar detectors work when the radar is on - if the cop is blinking it - turning it on to get a speed, and then off again....it won't give you any warning at all if there are not many vehicles. i've known a few people who's radar detector worked just great. it went off as the cop was zapping them.

good rule of thumb - avoid driving more than 5 mph over, and better yet learn what the general "gimme" is by the local and state law enforcement. here it's usually 10 mph and over gets you a ticket.

Here in NM (at least in the Albuquerque area) it's zero tolerance and they have machines that either are attached to red light cameras or sit on a van parked on the shoulder--there's no officer at all, they just take your picture and send you a ticket saying you were going a certain speed. And they're calibrated to 1 mph over according to the latest reports (before it was reported that they were calibrated to within ½mph). And the owner of the car always gets a ticket ... and we only have one, and I bought it before we were even engaged ... he's better about speeding than I am though, although he does sometimes go through red lights as they turn.

Yep same in Australia.. red light cameras and vans (hiding all over the show - although they are not supposed to actually hide, but they get away with it by putting there very small signs out just down from where they are parked.. I think within 25 meters, so by the time you have seen it you are fu&*ed)

Owner of the vehicle gets the fine and the points docked from his/her licence. Onus being on the owner to prove if he/she was not operating the vehicle at the time..

This has been a very good revenue raiser.

While I agree that there's a double-standard and that women (in general) need to decide how they want to be perceived, it's wrong to say that women are less intelligent all-around and state that as a fact. Opinion, okay; fact, no.
