I'm an August 27 filer. I emailed Senator Barbara Boxer and got a reply telling me to send a signature with permission to inquire on my behalf. Sent it over a week ago and didn't get a response so I called them today. Just got off the phone with the case worker. She said there's nothing she can do, and they've had a lot of requests from july and august filers but it's within normal processing time so nothing can be done. I said it isn't fair that some people who applied after me are getting approved and she said they may have gotten it expedited, because it's first come first serve. She mentioned they had a meeting yesterday and talked about the CSC flooding and that they had a high number of applicants in july-august. As she talked and sounded like a broken record from what i've been hearing from USCIS themselves I couldn't help but cry. I said goodbye crying, not only saying goodbye to her, but also goodbye to my last piece of effort and last resort and hope. I guess the saying "you get what you work for and put effort in" doesn't apply to everything, eh? And the definition of first come, first serve is now extremely confusing to me.

I have nothing else that I can do. I've done everything I possibly can.

I am very sorry to hear that. Have you tried Senator Feinstein's office? She has an Immigration form specifically for her constituents and anecdotally I have heard that her staff is better versed in dealing with USCIS. Not saying it will do much more but what have you got to lose?

Me too... I'm sorry it didn't happen the way you wanted it. I think it's okay to let yourself feeling so down but how about make a deal with yourself that this won't stop you from fighting to be with the love of your life?.

I bet you are stronger than even the most powerful people in CSC.

Sorry :( Hope we're all out of this blackhole soon.

I know you are overwhelmed because I have walked in your shoes. I promise you that your NOA2 will come. I know this is very hard, but you have done all you can do. Back when I was in your shoes, I thought I would lose my mind, but the NOA2 came after many long months. My husband did get his interview. Only because of extreme red flags that I did not realize could cause us so much more time to overcome did we not get a visa. Now that first year seemed like nothing. I am now on nearly 30 months of waiting. You filed in August and I bet your fiancee will be here before August this year and hang onto that knowing that he will be here soon. Best Wishes

NOA 1 November 15, 2010

NOA 2 August 25, 2011

Closed NVC Ocotber 11, 2011

Interview Date: January 12,2012

Thank you my wonderful God in Heaven.

I have nothing else that I can do. I've done everything I possibly can.

This message makes me want to hug you, if you are one who likes hugs. Please know that all of you July/August filers are in our thoughts, and that we are rooting for the quickest possible solution for you. It is EXTREMELY UNFAIR and USCIS is basically lying to us, but there's nothing we can do. I am "only" an early November filer but I can already see myself in your shoes, and I've shed a few tears already as well -- I can only imagine the crying will become far more frequent unless things change.

I have no suggestions, simply sympathy and milk and cookies and support. Good luck!!!!

I utterly second this lovely post: there are so many of us here rooting for you July/August filers. There's really nothing we can say that can help the enormous frustration, anxiety, and sadness you're being put through, but you are in many people's thoughts. This whole system is just disgustingly unfair. Keep strong, you will get through this.

It may sound morbid, but one thing that helps me sometimes: last July my best friend lost her 22 year old brother in a tragic accident. Sometimes I just have to tell myself - at least I will see the man I love again, and we will have a life together ahead of us. All of us here are going through a terrible time, but we are also immensely blessed.

I know it's extremely frustrating... and I think that regardless of the "broken record" responses, the only thing we can do is keep the pressure up.

As long as they think they can give us a pat answer, and we will go away, they will keep doing it. Eventually, though, they can be pushed out of the comfort zone and actually do something.

Yeah Barbara Boxer wasn't any help to me either. I wrote her office around a year ago for help with my case and she sent me a list of immigration lawyers and told me basically that she couldn't help me. So frustrating. I always wonder how people get so much help from Senators because I haven't had much luck. Wrote to all three in my area and got nothing. :(

Thank you for all the responses. Today is our anniversary. And our preferred date for our wedding (we wrote on the application). My friend also got in an accident and died by a drunk driver. If anything were to happen to my fiancé while we're apart I wouldn't know what to do. All I ask is for a explanation, a valid and reliable time frame for waiting. That's all, don't we deserve that? As US citizens and filing legally? Paying the fees?

I've written my two Senators. I heard my email is sitting at the first Senator's office that I wrote to, but no email or call back yet, over 3 weeks. I'm sorry for your frustration, hurt, and anger. Many of us are experiencing similar frustrations and there is no logical explanation, which adds to the frustration. Add these stressors to our individual challenges in life and it can be a bit overwhelming. Everyday, when I talk with my fiance, I am grateful that we can communicate, Skype and Line are wonderful internet tools to stay in touch.

In June 2011, I was in a shoreline fishing tournament and got swept off the cliffs here in Hawaii by a big wave. There was no where to climb back up. I was exhausted and drowning. Four of my friends, tied a rope that I had brought, to a lifeguard float, also which I had brought, threw it out to me, and after about another 10 minutes or so of bobbing up and down in the rough surf and becoming totally exhausted, they pulled me up a 20 foot cliff! Life changed that day! My perpective on life changed. As I face challenges, it's still stressful, but I am grateful to be alive to experience them. A month after my accident, I met my fiance and although this visa process has been challenging, having her in my life has been such a blessing. She is thousands of miles away, but each morning when I get up, I am grateful to have that relationship and know that this separation is only temporary.

As my fiance and I face these challenges together, we try our best to stay positive and to allow ourselves to grow as individuals as well as a couple. It's not easy, but it's much healthier than wallowing in grief and sadness. The whole purpose of the K1 is to pursue my life's happiness. The Japanese have a word "Gambatte" which means, "do your best" and "never give up". Gambatte my K1 friends, Gambatte! Aloha!

The Californian Senators were a complete waste to me. I think it was Boxers office that told me that my then Fiancee had to show a strong tie to Nigeria to be approved for a Fiancee visa?????

I'm voting Republican for the next two election cycles even though I'm a Democrat.

Good luck to everybody waiting but please if you haven't done so, start learning the next steps post approval and getting the necessary docs ready if you can.

I'll suggest planting a garden or painting rooms but I'm afraid whistling.gif

You should try your local Congressman. I chose him based upon how he voted on past immigration issues/laws. As he is in favor of helping immigrants. My wife filed for AOS from K-1 over 9 months ago and her case was transfered to CSC. It took 1 week for the worker from my Congressman's office to get back to me with an answer from USCIS. They had her case put on an officer's desk to be processed. Then one week after their response we got a notice that the greencard is in the mail and will be here any day. Total time from start to finish was only two weeks. Don't give up. Also is may be better if you actually just show up in person at their office to make you case more personal. Good Luck.

I know how hard it is to let a prospective wedding date go by and still be separated from the one you love. We went through three tentative wedding dates over the course of almost 2 years before we actually were able to get married in the US. Keep the faith. It's so worth it in the end.
