proof of living together - affidavit from landlord?

My wife and I are living together in Spain. For the I-130, affidavits attesting to the marriage are offered as an alternative to providing a lease showing joint tenancy. It would be quite expensive to have our lease translated from Spanish into English. In addition to affidavits from friends and family attesting to our marriage, how would an affidavit from our landlord confirming our residency in his property be looked at?

translate a lease? any one can do it, so if you've a friend who's not charging you monies, why not use them ?

I believe the lease must be translated by someone registered with the government. An officially licensed translator. This is quite pricey. 45 Euros a page.

Where did you read this? All the translator has to do is sign a statement saying that the translation is accurate and the translator is qualified to translate it. Anybody can do it.

USC who lived in Manabí, Ecuador with hubby from 2009 - 2013. Hubby became a naturalized American citizen in August 2016. Currently living together in northern Virginia.

No, it does not. All that is needed is someone who is fluent in Spanish to translate the lease and then sign an attestation statement that the translation is accurate and they are competent to translate. There is no specification that the person who signs the attestation statement be registered with the government or be officially licensed.

September 2, 2011: AOS invoice received, OPTIN email for EP sent
September 7, 2011: Paid AOS bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 9, 2011)
September 8, 2011: OPTIN email accepted, GZO number assigned
September 10, 2011: Emailed AOS package
September 12, 2011: IV bill invoiced
September 13, 2011: Paid IV bill (payment portal showed PAID on September 14, 2011)
September 14, 2011: Emailed IV package

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

Third party affidavits don't hold a lot of weight and most people don't use them. If you've got little to nothing else, then it is a good idea, but if you have intermingled finances, other proof of living at the same address, etc. I would use that first.

Living in a foreign country together and it being a low fraud one usually means your burden of proof is low.
