Coping.. How do we all deal with waiting for our loved ones

We use Whatsapp and Skype 24/7. Apart from work & sleep, there is no more than a 30 min lag between some kind of correspondence. That helps a lot, even though it's not the same. His work hours allow him to get around 4-5 hours sleeping with me on Skype, so that's helpful too. Time difference between California (where he is), and Western Australia (where I am) is 15 hours.. So it gets really hard sometimes! On top of all that, flights range from $1200 AUD (if you're lucky!) to 1600 AUD (about average), to like, 1800-2000 AUD (in peak travel times)!! SO that's why we can't visit each other often, we have a almost 1 year old son to think about too. However, I know I am a little more lucky than most as I am blessed to have been able to live with him, here in Aus, for 18 months before he left in Jan this year.

Ok so im just curious to kno how everyone here has managed to get by and to cope with the long waiting process of the K-1/K-3 visa? Waiting for our loved ones to be reunified is a hard task... If u wanna share how u and ur fiance/spouse cope, ur experiences with the long wait people may benefit from our stories! And it will bring a little positivity to a negative time.. :) hope to see alot of sharing!!

Like everyone else, Skype and ooVoo are our daily routine. With unlimited internet, we can stay on line all day and all night. Sometimes the technical problems with internet connections become frustrating, but we realize that we are so much better off than 20 years ago with no Internet. I cannot imagine how people coped with the wait before Internet. Our tablets are set up for automatic answer on Skype, so anytime either of us wants to connect with the other, the links will come up even if we are sound asleep. That's great because we are separated by a nine-hour time difference.

How do you get it to connect automatically? I have not seen that option.

It's only on Adroid OS. I bought an Android tablet just for that. Apple iOS doesn't have that feature with Skype, and I believe the PC version doesn't either. I bought my fiance an Android tablet for her birthday and we discovered that feature. It's great!

my heart is torn here. Torn in the sense, that i feel happiness for your ability to connect with each other, yet sullen at the obstacles i'm facing. The love of my life lives in Cuba, & therefore communications are extremely difficult at best. Skype, Facebook, Whatsapp are all unavailable on the island & there is no WIFI readily available. I call him every other day at 79 cents a minute & it's practically killed my budget. We have attempted to write letters to each other (via snail mail) however neither of us have yet to receive the others mail. Mail between the U.S. & Cuba are notoriously inefficient. Email is also spotty, but we do get to send each other emails once in a while. But i must admit, there are moments within the day, that i feel an inexplicable ethereal connection to him, that defies explanation or logic. So with that, i find some peace...a moment of joy.

So, any words of kindness or advice is greatly appreciated here, because i feel i have exhausted all my options. Perhaps a few Cubanos can relate.

Keep holding on folks. These moments of separation pale in comparison to the deeper connections we are building through the soulful bond we share with that special person. Keep strong.

sorry, I'm kinda traumatized with how people react here on VJ. I once posted a gratitude prayer hoping it would help other people with their worries but unfortunately all I received was sarcasm and negativity, people with bad attitudes and hateful hearts.tongue.gif

Not people are as bad as them but here's the link I posted before, it's a good laugh you might want to seebiggrin.gif all my friends was laughing after reading it. Some people here are ridiculous. Ain't we all want to get married and be with the person we love? why be bitchy with the answers? loltongue.gif

I'm happy to meet nice people like you heresmile.gifheart.gif, we experience such luck also, like all of a sudden my notebook will die and just wont turn on, internet problems..sometimes we have misunderstandings cos of it. Always make screenshots of errors on your part so you can show it to him, it saves time explaining your side on what had happen about the internet problem thing and suchsmile.gif

most importantly, always reach out ofr each other, talk things out..understand the situation you are in and extend your patience, most people break up on this stage of waiting cos they are depressed, bored, pissed off, pressure, stressed, sad, lonely with all the wait. So the two of you shouldn't let any negativity get in between you. Good luck and God Bless both of yousmile.gifheart.gifbiggrin.gif

Wow i truely feel for u!! Just when u think ur situations the worst, sumone out there always has it tougher! But u have a positive attitude and that will take u far!!! Ur strong! Keep ur head up! And if i can help, let me kno! Im always online lol.. I will for sure send prayers your way! And it sounds lime u have a great connection between ur hearts n souls keeping the fire burning!! Its doesnt need to b defined or logica based! I have a connection to my partner as well i can not explain!! Its a bridge God builds between 2 people and only those 2 people may pass.... My man and i close our eyes sometimes symotaniously and just reach our hearts n souls to one another... And unexplainably can feel eachothers warmth and comfort... We can sense desperation from eachothers hearts at random times and feel urges to contact one another.. Its similiar to a mothers intuition.. We just kno wen sumthings wrong... We have actually met in our dreams only to realize after discussing it the next day, that we both had the same dream and same experience, feelings and all on the same night... Now explain that!? Lol nobody can.. Your soulmates is the best suitable explanation... We always just say, no matter the time away, no matter the distance, this is only a moment compared to a lifetime we are goin to share!!! Stay positive... We all need a little care n helping hands! :) God bless your Journey!

we do the same thing. we use Skype or yahoo im to watch movies or listen to music. it takes a lot of planning with an 8 hr time difference but it's worth it. We talk everyday 5 or 6 times a day.

On your gratitude prayer, I loved it thanks for posting it.

It's tough, and all I can say is HATS OFF to the people who have already done it. I can't do it and I'm probably going to go in the summer, although it will be expensive and living conditions in Pakistan are not so good :/
