Hello everyone.

Good day everyone. What's the best answer for this interview question?Would you find a job once you get to the US?My lawyer says if I said Yes, it could mean a mark down. What's your thought about this?

God bless you.

If you are entering the US with a K-1 visa it is presumed that you will start your AOS process after your marriage, at the end of which you will become a permanent resident, afforded the right to work. That is no secret, nor does it speak in your disfavor. In fact, that is the very purpose of the process through which you are going.

IMHO, if you are asked that question, answer it truthfully. It is not a loaded question by any means. If you want to make sure your answer is not misconstrued, add that you are aware you will need to begin your AOS before you can receive your EAD, so a job might be in your future, but only a few months down the road.

Also bear in mind that if your interview is in English and you are uncertain as to what you are being asked, before you answer, you can repeat the question back to the interviewer and ask him/her to confirm that you have understood it correctly. Better clear than sorry!

Good luck!

Coming on a K 1 finance visa he has to support you for the first year, then you can apply for green card to work.

So, say, I understand i can't work for at least a year and i need this time to get used to the US and my new family.

That's not true, you can work as soon as you get your employment authorization, which arrives in about 2-3 months after applying. You can apply for an employment authorization with your adjustment of status application, as soon as you get married. So provided you get married as soon as you arrive, then applying for AOS and EAD immediately after, you can be eligible to work in as little as 3 months or so. It doesn't take a year.

You're a Filipino.

Look at the adjudicator with a solemn look and say: "In my country daughters are responsible to assist in the support of all their family, and it would please me to be able to do that, as long as it's done legally."

If the adjudicator is also a Filipino make sure that you have a very seriously solemn look.

You might add (whether you are or aren't...) "I'm ate, not bebe."

Uh, don't take all this too seriously mind you...hmmmm.
