I have to send in my I-130, from what I understand, with originals. So to clarify, because I only have 1 copy of my birth, my daughters birth, my first wife's marriage and death, and our current marriage would I be better off sending out for new certified copies of these documents or can I make photo copies?

Do I get them back?

You only need to send photo copies for I-130. But you have to send original to NVC later after USCIS approved your I-130.

No this is incorrect. At the I-130 petition stage, you send in photocopies ONLY. Please revisit the instructions.

I agree. Cause they do not return your originals. It is advisable to bring all originals that was sent to your interview.

Then you have some massive fail with the instructions.

Photocopies only, for I-130 submittal.

Original Documents or certified copies (certified by the issuing authority) , with a photocopy, for NVC doc intake.

Please have another read, on the instructions? Anything that must be signed (the I-130, the G-325A) must contain the original signature - so a scanned version, printed out, for example, doesn't work with the I-130 submittal.

Good Luck, with your I-130 prep !

Okay sorry, I misinterpreted this statement in the guide...

Make TWO copies of the entire package before you send it in. This includes the money orders too. You want to have a perfect replica of the package you are sending in. All Forms that you submit must be originals with original signatures. Supporting Evidence that you submit may be photocopies. Retain ALL original supporting Evidence since the USCIS has the right to check them by issuing an RFE (Request For Evidence). If you receive an RFE, follow the direction exactly, and make two copies of what you sent back. During any future interviews the USCIS may also want to examine the original supporting evidence.

Thinking forms meant all related, not just the governmental forms I'm filling out.

Thanks for the color commentary. If you read the replies you can see that everyone else was able to answer without an attitude like this. I, in fact, didn't need your answer at all by the time you replied.
