I've recently been posting some questions - looking for help with my applications for I-130 and I-145 which I am filing concurrently this week.

I have had a lot of people direct me to the link here on the VJ site with the dire warnings about marriage fraud. Maybe I should not be complaining because I have been given a lot of help, but I am starting to feel like I am some kind of outcast.

I really, really like this site, but I find that the lack of a forum for those of us (and there are TONS), who are already in the US and are having our spouses file a petition for us along with the AOS frustrating. It'd be nice to go there and ask q's about issues and concerns that affect this kind of immigration (and yes it is PERFECTLY LEGAL), rather than to have to post it in the AOS forum and hope no one points me towards the marriage fraud page - again.

Anyway, that's my vent for the day.

I need to make a signature that says "I didn't come here to stay, but ended up staying - No I am not committing marriage fraud" and all would be well.

Just try to ignore it. The link you speak of also contains all the relevant info on filing for AOS when you are already in the US. The warning at the top is a safeguard against those that do use this in a fraudulant manner whereby the risk is clearly stated.

Many on here have felt the same way you do and that is really sad that they are made to feel that way. There are those of us that will assist without bias. Hang in there aye

i fail to see where anyone is insinuating fraud. That link only displays a warning to users who may assume that they qualify, but don't. Below that warning are the instructions for filing. I don't understand how you can misinterpret that as someone telling you that your marriage is fraudulent. Maybe I am missing something.

Jane,

There seems to be a few individuals - and their names repeat over a number of forums - who have a distorted view of the intent of all non-US men and women who are marrying US citizens, probably because they themselves were so badly burned by one. Instead of recognizing that each individual situation is unique to those individuals, they tar everyone with the same brush. I can appreciate your frustration with their comments, but seeing how filled with suspicion, fear, bitterness and acrimony they are I have found it less trying just to feel sorry for them in their dark and hurting ignorance and then ignore their posts. You know the truth of your situation, so don't let their blind ignorance detract from the value of those who do sincerely want to help and wish you well on your journey. I like the way your summarized your situation - didn't plan on staying, but staying :). Good luck on your journey.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

thank you for the great support - it means a lot.

i'm probably a tad defensive, it's more than just that link, it's a bit of attitude i've seen and also the

lack of a forum for people in situation to ask specific questions in.

seems to be a forum for every other type of marriage based immigration except this one, and though i don't have the stats on hand, i'd wager that more people do their I-130/I-485 from within the US than at least one of the other kinds that there IS a forum for.

I haven't seen the threads you're talking about, but my guess is that people are probably jealous that you don't have to go through the K1/K3 or anything like that. Of course, we all wish the non-USC had shown up in the US and sponteaneously decided to marry the USC and AOS immediately. Don't let the bitterness get you down. There is help here for you. Stick around and VJ will come in handy during AOS. And people will forget you didn't do a K1 and stop being so bitter. :P

:ot: Alex, how is that cold of yours?

My plans for the evening include perishing, cold and alone, while hacking up half a lung, leaving only a spilled cup of Chamomile next to the bed and a wad of tissues next to the pillow. It will be a Dickensian sort of death.

(I am in the feeling sorry for myself stage) :P

Hope you can rest!

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."
