Jane, around the time I joined VJ there were a bunch of us who were doing what you're doing - Kezzie and JayJay for two. We all felt the same things you're feeling - the attitude of "how can it be a real marriage if it wasn't planned to the nth degree for months in advance and you didn't go through the hell of separation first?". The trouble is that those who beat on people for getting their green card this way often don't really understand that it is perfectly legal; they still think there's something underhand about it. They also can't get their heads around the fact that that someone can come into the country with every intention of leaving, but circumstances do change.

You're not alone here, and there are serveral of us who have fought for the recognition of the AOS from [insert non-K status here] is (under most circumstances) a perfectly valid for of adjustment. It's getting better, but there are always one or two who feel that it isn't "fair" somehow. They forget that in many cases marriage hadn't even been discussed, let alone planned before the non-USC entered the country.

Stay strong - as AussieWench said, there are plenty of people who will help you without bias.

I've recently been posting some questions - looking for help with my applications for I-130 and I-145 which I am filing concurrently this week.

I have had a lot of people direct me to the link here on the VJ site with the dire warnings about marriage fraud. Maybe I should not be complaining because I have been given a lot of help, but I am starting to feel like I am some kind of outcast.

I really, really like this site, but I find that the lack of a forum for those of us (and there are TONS), who are already in the US and are having our spouses file a petition for us along with the AOS frustrating. It'd be nice to go there and ask q's about issues and concerns that affect this kind of immigration (and yes it is PERFECTLY LEGAL), rather than to have to post it in the AOS forum and hope no one points me towards the marriage fraud page - again.

Anyway, that's my vent for the day.

I need to make a signature that says "I didn't come here to stay, but ended up staying - No I am not committing marriage fraud" and all would be well.

Lets just make this an anti-jealous thread. Sod em'. Some just need to get away from VJ and the visa journey countdown more and stop comparing their cases to everyone else's. It's been a bit snarky around here lately.

The only people you have to answer to are those gov't workers handling your case. I hope you can see past those here who have taken their own frustrations out on you. Good luck :star::star::star:

And so he did what countless punk-rock songs had told him to do so many times before: he lived his life

10/07/2006 WEDDING DAY!

11/14/2006 AOS packet made it to 'the box' after being overnighted.

12/02/2006 Paul had biometrics

12/14/2006 AOS Forwarded to CSC AND AP Application approved.

01/17/2007 First touch of 2007 at CSC

01/20/2007 Touched AGAIN (also the 18th) come on...

February: Oops, RFE for a REGISTERED marriage certificate. Oops! Overnighted it.

02/28/2007 Paul gets email letting us know his GREENCARD is on it's way! It's done...for now!

03/09/2007 Paul's greencard arrives. And breathe...

We began with mailing the I-129 in on February 27, 2006 so the whole process took us approx. one year.

Good luck out there!

She has a pretty good point to whine about. When you come to a board for help and support on a legitimate process and you get a bunch of people inferring that your marriage is a sham or that you're trying to deliberately buck the system, you have a right to feel somewhat bitter.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
