Hi everyone...

I was searching through the forums but am having a hard time finding some answers. I filed in October 2012 for my fiance and have not received an NOA2 yet. I understand that the CSC is slowed down right now and that I probably won't hear for another month or two. I was wondering, however, is it okay to start getting things together for the interview? How early is too early to do the I 134 documents? My dad will be our cosponsor because I am a student, so say he starts getting everything together now, would the dates be too early for the interview? Would they think that is weird or not acceptable? Also, how early is too early for my alien fiance to get his criminal records from the police? Is it still too early for that? I know sometimes it takes some police offices 6 weeks to get that to the person... so I am needing your advice, VJ! Should I start on this or wait a little while? Thanks a lot. xoxo

We have waited for 6 months now and no NOA-2 yet...we are August filers.

it's never too early to get docs together. I am an October filer as well!

things like bank statements, Pay Stubs, employment letters, police certs are only good for a number of months, so be careful with that stuff - as far as the forms go, go fo it!

Everyone's petition is different - just because someone who filed in August has not received anything, does NOT mean you won't soon !

good Luck!

It may be too early for some documents, yes. Ask your fiance to look at the documents required at the US Embassy in his country (where he will apply for the visa and get his interview), sometimes it says how old it can be. For example, in Paris they don't want french police records that are more than 3 months old at the time of the interview.

The best thing you can do, right now, is to make a list of all the documents you and your fiance will need to gather, how to get them and how long it takes for each of them.

I have to get my 'Letter of good conduct' from Malaysia since I've worked there several years...that made me wait 2 months! I hope I don't have to apply another one. It is hard to know what to prepare and when to prepare things. Just play it by ear.

You can fill out the forms, sign them, but don't date them yet. I would suggest you wait for NOA2 to get evidences such as bank statements, letters from employers, basically any supporting documents for the I-134 except the Tax Transcripts from the IRS (you can get those now.) Good luck!!

Never too early to research docs, but if you send docs that are old already, it is not very good...

I'd say, look things up so you know exactly what you'll need, and get everything as soon as you have NOA2 and send it to your fiancé, it will be fine.

Please reseach deeply on co-sponsors, it is very country specific. Some country won't accept co-sponsors or will be very picky if the USC doesn't have any income. Make in depth research, ask for several advice.

Police certificate is also usually valid for a year (In france they still specifically ask for a less than 3 monhs old certificate, but it seems to be very specific to france). If your fiancé ever lived abroad for more than 12 months he needs those police certif too (please check brazil portal /consulate information for details and specifics). Depending how long it takes her to get the police certificate, now could be a good time to obtain it.

Good luck in your visa journey!

From the day we sent I-129F to the day I recieved my K-1: Exactly 9 months
