I was reading the application assembly instructions. (Avoid using heavy-duty staples; instead use ACCO fasteners or heavy clips.) Do I need to use these ACCO fasteners and punch holes in the papers. Also my divorce papers are on longer court papers. Will this length be ok? thanks for any help. jeffnmerry

Hi!

We didn't use ACCO fastener with our documents. We used paper clips and clamps to segregate the files. No staples allowed as well. Organize your papers in a manner which can easily be disassembled.

Goodluck!

I think I am going to try the ACCO fasteners. I wish they liked staples but clearly they do not and paper clips slide off so easy. I will have to buy a hole puncher to use the ACCO fastener. I want to make it as easy as possible for them not to loose any papers. Thank you jeffnmerry

I(as many others have) used paper clips,no need to go and buy ACCO things, just use paperclips, ACCO fasteners are a lot more hassle for the person to disassemble your papers than paperclips!

We used heavy-duty paper clips to separate sections and binder clips to secure the whole package. If you use ACCO fasteners, you may have to punch holes in your precious originals.

I will use paper clips. Which documents need to be original copies with the I-130 form? thanks JeffnMerry

There are 2 assembly instructions. This one for NVC: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=72a927c382f39110VgnVCM1000004718190aRCRD&vgnextchannel=fe529c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD specifically states NO acco fasteners.

This one (called general): http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=ff053d146a7ee010VgnVCM1000000ecd190aRCRD&vgnextchannel=fe529c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD states acco are fine and to avoid "heavy staples".

Personally for all my process is stapled the form pages together (so say I-129F was 10 pages, all those together) then I bulldog clipped/binder clipped the entire application together (form + supporting docs). I never had any problems.

You won't use originals in the I-130 stage. Your originals will be sent to NVC in the IV stage.
