Hello fellow Visa Journey members, just wanted to pass along some info I got today from USCIS. It seems that the 5 month average wait at CSC is no longer current. I was told today that they are currently working on July 18th 2012 applicants. Being that I am a September 14th petitioner, I was calling to see about a service request since my case will be approaching the 5 month mark in a few days. I was told that I had 2 more months to wait before my case becomes eligible for a service request. My question, If my case goes beyond that extra 2 month period, and still has not been approved, will they just add another 2 months to the average?? My petition is just a common K1 Visa that is totally legit..also, why have some been approved in August 2012 without an expedite?? Seems a little random to me. Any input to clarify would be much appreciated. Thank You.

They have been saying July 18 since at least December. They are obviously under other performance measure pressure which has reduced K-1 priority. <cough><cough> Dream Act <cough><cough>

I could have swore I checked the CSC average last week and it said 5 months. Maybe I was looking at the wrong thing..

That might be right on the "official" word. Their site said 5 months up until 02/05. They then updated the average to reflect what is really going on. Probably trying to reduce the pressure on customer service staff. It's all about managing workload.

We all got caught in the Dream Act - I had my Congresswoman's attorney inquire on my behalf on January 24 and he was told "Your constituent will receive a response within 45 days" - that puts me at March 11 - 6.5 months after NOA1!

If you really don't know, I suggest you Google it...Keeping yourself informed is, in my opinion, the way to survive this agony

It's not the Dream Act, but work permits for children of illegal immigrants, UCSIS has received almost a million application since last summer, big bummer.

Expect, based on Igor's List of updated NOA2 timetables, to get approved within 190 and 225 days.

*** Thread moved from K-1 Process forum to USCIS Service Centers forum -- topic involves processing times in general. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Even though on their website it says for CSC 5,5 months, there are people that reached 7 months already and they havent got a response yet. Somehow, their average for both centers is 7,9 months, so i would go with that waiting time now. I know, it's not what we all want to see/hear :(

That's why I said 225 days, which is almost eight months.

My case was the only one left in March before the big shift to May with VSC.. Clearly my case got lost somewhere. When I finally received my RFE, the status date of filing moved from March 19, 2012 to May something. Bottom line, there is very little the customer service representatives can do in terms of time except give you the expedite criteria, file a quiery with tier 2 support at 7 months, or fix something if your account becomes past due on the official status of filing date on the USCIS website.
