Port of Entry Review
Event Date
Port of Entry : JFK
POE Date : 2013-04-13
Got EAD Stamp :
Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 5
Comments : Made us wait a seemingly infinite amount of time because of limited staff at night, not allowing us to get our baggage from the baggage claim (yikes, anyone could have walked off with her life by then), and otherwise, was pretty good. Everyone treated us fairly, just not the best policy for newcomers.

Consulate Review: Dominican Republic
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : February 8, 2013
Embassy Review : We arrived at the consulate very early to find that there was already a line. We didn't have much trouble following the directions after getting in. We were issued a number at the door and waited for our name to be called to a window after entering. We went to window 16 first where they collected our DS-230, DS-156 and Affidavit of Support (in our case, the I-864 was requested in our packet). It was there we had to pay the $80 fee and were asked for our Banco Popular receipts. I saw the green piece of paper (issued to us to pay Domex) like everyone discusses here, but I'd like to hear from those who have been denied to see if they also saw the paper. Then, we were called to Window 15 for fingerprinting. After that, we were called to Window 21 where very few questions were asked and we were issued two pieces of green paper, the Domex tracking slip (3x3 in size) and another (letter sized) that said everything was ok but that the Embassy had not yet received our medical results from consultarios de visa. The excitement at that moment was amazing, until I realized we still had medical to deal with. We have to wait 8 weeks for an unnecessary test result for a condition that does not exist, and if it did exist, it would be much more economical for me to add her to my insurance policy and treat her in the US! Overall, though, the personnel in both the Embassy and the Consultarios de Visa are really wonderful people and they really want families to be together, within the guidelines of the law. I give them a 5 for keeping our country safe and because they really have no say in how long our visas take (If they did, they would score a zero). They are doing an excellent job at the job they are given.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
