Hi guys! I need help again.

I got married last year in December, I am going to have my wedding in June, so I want to invite my parents come to America. I have not applied my green card yet, my status right now is F1. But I will apply for it soon, does my status change influence my parents visa? And should I tell the US embassy my parents come to my wedding?Last year my mom came once, my school gave me a letter to prove she came to attend my graduation, now I am a student again, can I do the same thing? of course this time it is not graudation, just I can not go home, so want to invite parents come here and visit me. Can I tell my parents not mention I get married just say they come here to visit me?

Thank you guys !!!Help me ~~~

Your parents have to prove strong ties to their home country and that they will return home. Your Mum already having had a visa seems favourable. Was it a b2 she had?

to go together, they have to apply as a 'unit'. if they all appeay together the Co would definitely want to know what is so special that they are going together to see you especially like you said, it is no longer graduation.

I hope your mom's vbisa is still active ...at least she will still get to attend :)

If you want to play games with US immigration like leaving out inconvenient facts, you better be prepared for the consequences.

Honesty is the best policy.

What do you mean? I did not say I want to play games with US immigration. I just ask if they can go together as a family.Besides I did not hide anything. why it is not honesty?

i think what he's saying is that you mentioned that your parents say their reason for going to the US is for a graduation when in fact it isn't.

She did not say her family will mention they are going for a grdaution. she said the last time they were approved was for her graduation but it it no longer the same reason now and so should they hide the fact that they are coming for her wedding.

OP they are right, the worst thing you could do for yourself is lie to immigration, it always comes back to hunt you. That is why I mentioned that I dont see how they plan to avoid telling the officer the real reason they are visitng since there will be more than two of them going for the interview.

Hello everyone,

I have a question very similar to that posted by endlessqiong. I came to USA in August 2013 on my F1 visa to purse my master degree. Dated an American citizen and we had the court marriage in September 2014. We filed for my green card paperwork right after that and so far i've had my biometrics appointment. My parents live in Pakistan and wanted to apply for their visas to come here for the ceremony in June 2015. I wasn't sure about what they should tell the immigration officer about their trip. I graduate from my masters program in May 2015 as well. My questions are:

1. Should they tell the interviewer that they're coming here for my graduation and to visit?

2. Should they tell that they're coming for my wedding?

3. Should they tell both?

4. Or should they tell neither and just say that their daughter is studying at XYZ university and they want to go visit her?

At this point I know that I'll give them all the possible documents that they might need (an enrollment letter from my university, a letter saying that I'll be graduating in May 2015, copies of letters sent by uscis indicating that my green card is in process and of course all their bank statements and papers for property they own back home which indicate that their intention is to just visit for a few weeks and then go back)

Any help or guidelines from previous experience will be highly appreciated.

Thank you

Simple, you and your parents just need to present the factual truth. If the reason for your parents visit is for your wedding, that's what needs to be said. If it's for your graduation, that's what they'd say. However, you said "of course this time it is not for graduation..." so would that be the truthful reason why they want to visit?

"Can I do the same thing?" Yes, but as others have pointed out, be honest and prepared for possible consequences if not. Good luck to your parents/family visiting.

So you recommend that i say that they're coming for m graduation and wedding both?

Both seem a good reason. Reasons to visit are only marginally relevant.

Reasons to go home are more important.

OP,

To be clear, my only recommendation to you is for your parents to tell the truth as to the reason they want to visit. Period.

If the reason is a wedding, then that's the reason. If it's for a funeral, that's the reason. If it's for a graduation, that's the reason.

The reasons to return home are more important than the reason why they want to visit.

Good luck.
