I was just contacted by INS and they have requested that I provide evidence of emotional or financial ties to my daughter before she was 21. I wasn't married to her mom but we lived together, untill she was 2 and she has my name on her birth certificate. She was born in the UK. To cut a long story short, her mom got married to the US citizen and moved to the USA. I had visitation rights and I had court binding agreements from the UK courts. Once she moved here her mother cut off contact between my daughter and myself knowing I was in the UK and there wasn't much I could do.

I moved to the USA and then I was contacted by the mother when my daughter was a teenager, who now couldn't control her and I now had to try and rebuild my relationship with my daughter. I managed to get her to finish school and meet her other family and now she is in the US air force.

My daughter filed my petition I sent in the 1-130 which was approved and 1-485, I did my fingerprints in December 2011 and got my EAD in February 2012. My case was moved to California to speed up the process. Now I've just been asked to provide evidence or financial ties to my daughter before the age of 21. Does anyone know what exactly I need? I do have a lawyer he told me to get pictures and anything else I can get: most of the pics are when she was younger. Does anyone know what evidence I can provide or any insight?

Sorry I know this is a long post.

Thanks

You need to show child support checks or western union slips. If you could get testimonies from friends and family who have known you for a long time, that should help I think. I am sure others will give you other ideas.

I don't have child support checks, we made a arrangement between ourselves. Thanks

i say write up a timeline, from the time you first saw her in the USA (when she was an uncontrollable teenager)

to yesterday.

in each timetick, write what you did. meet with her, give money to her or her mom, etc.

you don't have to be exactly specific on the first draft,

but

make about 10 drafts of it, honing it each time.

when finished with it, THEN try to get some receipts and photos that reflect what you did, what you paid, where you were, on each timetick. I know, you probably won't have 100 percent coverage (a piece of evidence for each timetick) but you'll have something, aye?

Then submit it all (after making two copies) to the address in the letter.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

OK thanks makes sense. I was seperated from her for a very long time and I never kept reciepts of money sent. I'll do a draft I never expected to have to keep reciepts.? I know I have some court papers somewhere that should help? Thanks

Good Luck !

You could also try getting some info from her school when you took over? Maybe school records that show you as the in case of emergency person? What about medical bills where you paid? etc etc
