We have only just filed for the I 130 but i like to be very, VERY organized!

My wife doesn't earn enough so her sister is co sponsoring.

Can we order my wife's tax transcripts now from the IRS and also her sisters ?

I know I'm way ahead time wise but I'd rather have them in hand, i wasn't sure if ordering them this far in advance makes any difference ?

thanks

You can order 2011 transcripts and before. They won't change. If your NVC time comes after April 15 (likely), then your required "most recent" tax return will be 2012, which you haven't filed yet.

Correct. Order what you want, when you want but the 2012 tax transcript WILL be needed and neither the petitioner or joint sponsor will have filed those as of today. If you order now, you'll be ordering again too. Suit yourself.

I agree. You may as well wait to order them at the same time instead of having to wait twice. As Pushbrk said you will be required to send transcripts from 2012 also.

i dont see the harm in requesting the other years now

at least then you have SOME transripts and should you encounter issues later you can provide copies of the return and w2 in lieu of transcript can you not?

some people receive the transcripts w no issues.

others, like myself have some go missing.

i ordered 2009 6 weeks ago and have yet to receive them

She needs to determine whether she was required to file. She probably was. If so, she should file the 2010 tax return, but it is unlikely she'll owe any actual tax.

Your wife is ALWAYS your PRIMARY/MAIN sponsor - so completing I-864 is a must even if she wasn't required to file taxes.

I don't think she was required to, she was on a student exchange but working over there for 12 months.

It depends on her income. What you "think" doesn't matter. She needs to investigate and respond accordingly.
