Letter of Intent to Marry

27 posts in this topic

Recommended Posts

I sent my I-129F application about a month ago, but just now realized that I am lacking a letter of intent to marry from my fiancee. I have a letter of intent from myself, only. I am assuming I will get a notice asking me to provide this. Can I send it to the USCIS before this notice comes to make the process go faster? Anyone know?

Thanks.

Wait for the Request for Evidence, RFE. That way, it will be matched up with your petition. If you send it now, chances are it will be lost in the system and you'll receive an RFE anyways.

Good luck on your journey!

Doesn't an RFE add quite a bit of processing time to the application?

Has anyone tried sending additional evidence without an RFE, by case number or what have you?

Thanks.

First of all, an I-129F is not an application form, it's a petition form.

Secondly, as previously posted, sending anything to USCIS at this juncture is likely to be nothing more than an exercise in futility as it's highly unlikely it would be matched with the file. I'm not suggesting that you don't try, but merely informing what is likely to be the result.

Yes and No. An RFE means that your petition is sitting on the desk of an adjucator waiting approval. When you send in the requested evidence, it is immediately forwarded to the responsible person to be matched up with your file. It can add a couple of days to a couple of weeks. Most of it depends on how fast you send in the request.

I'm not sure if anybody has actually TRIED sending in info but most of the questions posted about this topic, replies have always been to wait for the official RFE. Chances are, your letter would get lost because your file is sitting in a box in a HUGE warehouse filled with other petitions and it will get lost.

You can, but it will get lost. Get the statement ready and wait for an RFE. DO NOT send anything further until requested, the request comes with a special envelope and document to return so that it gets matched up to your case.

Depends on how long it takes VSC to put your petition on the desk of an adjucator. Could be less, could be more.

If all you sent was the I-129F petition form and check, then be prepared that you might not get an RFE and just receive an outright denial.
