Hi all! My parents interview was last Friday, Jan. 4th. Mom was approved but Dad was issued a white paper stated 221(g) together with a request letter to send another NBI that has his second name on it that should state that no criminal record on it. He decided to have his second name removed in 1970's because he never used it in all school records, etc. He went to the NBI ofc to get it rightaway and sent it to the US embassy together with the appointment letter and request letter.

*Does anybody have any idea how long this might take? will my Mom receive her visa first or will they send it at the same time? I would prefer them to come to the US at the same time. Any input is greatly appreciated.

By the way, the consul took both their passports, does this mean he passed also?

no idea but your mom has 6 months to enter the US from the date that the visa was issued, so she can wait for your dad. hopefully it will be enough time for your dad to get his visa as well.

It's more likely that your Mom will receive her passport and visa first.

There's no specific timeframe for Administrative processing (221g). Dad has to wait.

Good luck and congrats.

the 221(g) her dad got was for a document, as soon as they receive what the are asking for his visa will be issued, he was not put into AP.

As soon as you give the consulate what they are looking for it won;t take long for them to issue your dad's visa. Your Mom has 6 months from the day the visa is issued to enter the US. If you can get the NBI quickly I bet that they will be able to travel here together. They kept his passport, that means they are just waiting for that NBI to issue it. Good luck.

the AP her dad got was for a document, as soon as they receive what the are asking for his visa will be issued, this is not background checks which can take a long time.

The document involved is Dad's NBI CLEARANCE. They will do background and criminal records check. It will not be as long like the others done in some Middle Eastern countries but it will still delay him by days or even weeks.
