I submitted the I-129 fiance application May 2011. My fiance had his interview over a month ago on November 25, 2011. We thought he would have his visa by now and don't understand what is taking so long. When I called to ask about it, they said the man in charge of our case was gone for the holidays and would be back "soon" but that our case was still processing even though he was still gone. They would not tell me what "processing" means. I thought they did all that stuff before the interview and that the interview was the last and final thing! I am getting frustrated and am wondering if this time frame is normal or if this seems a bit delayed. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks so much!!

You mean 2012 no?

Your fiancé might have been put in ap, what did they say at the interview? Was he approved, did they keep his passport?

It does sound like his case is in AP. Additional Processing, and it can take a few weeks, and in some cases several months. They will sometimes advise that a case is in AP if you ask that specific question, but they will not give you any information beyond that while the process is ongoing. There is also no time frame for completion. Sorry you were unaware that the interview is not possibly the last thing on the list.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Yes, his interview was last November on the 25th. They did not keep his passport. 3 people talked with him and 2 people seemed satisfied but 1 man told him to come back with a letter of employment from his job. We didn't understand why this was relevant to our case since he could be jobless and should still be allowed to get a visa since I am the one who has to prove I can support him (and I did prove that). But he did as he was asked and took an official letter back to the embassy 4 days later. At that time, they told him the man who had requested it was gone on vacation and would return "soon." No one else was allowed to handle our case. I called about it a few days ago and they said the man was still gone but would return "soon." (grrrrrr) I am hoping things are just going slowly because of the holidays as you suggested....

call DoS Hotline (# in my profile, left panel), get a Human, inquire for casefile status.

ask specifically - 'Is the casefile in administrative review or administrative procesing or in additional processing?'

and Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

So he received no written instructions on what you guys need to hand in, in order to be approved? You got some phone calls to make! He sending in papers regarding his job makes no sense at all. You need to find out exactly what you need! As it is now you are not approved
