Dear January Filers,

I sent my AOS package February 1st 2013 to the Chicago office. So i am almost a january filer, but not.:) Just have a quick question for you all. I completed my biometrics March 12th when i was scheduled. I saw it on the uscis web site that they updated my i-485 to Testing and Interview stage on March 20th. Since then I haven't received anything in the mail, and i am anxiously waiting to get the interview date already. I also signed up for e-mail and text updates on March 30th. My question is when they sent out your interview date letter did they update it and post the date on USCIS web site as well? or I should just wait until it gets here in the mail. I am just worried I signed up for the text/ e-mail updates too late cause it's already day 12 now after they updated to testing and interview stage. I just think that it's possible that we just still in line and the Tampa office is busy.

Hello, for us it did. We got the interview and testing ( case is in line for interview scheduling) then one or 2 weeks later, the status was updated with the interview date which is when we then received the actual letter in the mail.

I hope this helps.

Since it is has not been updated yet you didn't sign up to late, the current status online is what would have been sent in an email so if online it says " in line for appt" even if you signed up for email updates you couldn't have received an appt without it showing online. The mail notifications simpy reflect the online updates and the latest is visible at all times.

For me it was about 3 weeks after the biometrics that I received an interview appt letter.

There was someone here who missed the interview because they never got a letter nor did they receive updates for the interview so it is rare but it can happen. I would stay on the phone until I got someone if it's been 3-4 weeks since your biometrics

That is if you adjusted from any other visa than K1 visa

If you are adjusting from K1 it is a longer process and sometimes there is no interview

Thanks so much for your advice and your input. It really means a lot. Tomorrow is my third week after my biometrics so I will wait one more week and see what happens. I just seriously can't wait to have that letter in my hands and get going. This waiting period has been killing me. They usually say the local office might be busy that's why scheduling takes a lil longer, but I am praying every day that I get an update:)

There has still been no movement in regards to our case. Since we received our EAD card almost a month ago, we haven't received any emails, phone calls, text messages, or mailings and our online status hasn't changed. Seems almost as though they forgot about us. I'm just going to give them a call and see if they can tell us anything.

Hey everyone, hope everyones cases are going smoothly. My interview is this wednesday at noon and I find myself getting more and more nervous as it gets closer.

I am pretty sure I have all that I possibly can to take to the interview with me.

We are making more copies of all our support documents tomorrow just incase, even though most of them is what Ive already sent.

I have the entire package I sent to them copied to bring with me

2 photo albums (one wedding, one is just randoms with family and out n about)

I have wedding cards from both our fams ( I know ppl say they dont weigh in that high but im bringing them anyway)

I have a letter that my husband sent to me when he mailed me my itinerary from the first time I visited him here in the US

I have a receipt for my rings that has both of our names on it

I have birth certificates for his two minor children, I dont however have one for his oldest whose 21. But I was told that the dependant childrens birth certificates were the only ones required, so hopefully that is the case.

I am bringing my husbands pay stubs for the last two months, we still have to file our taxes this week, but I dont think we will have them in time for the interview. So hopefully the last 2 months of pay stubs is sufficient as well as the last 3 years of tax transcripts.

I also am bringing one of our wedding invitations, we had alot of extras

The things I sent with my original AOS for support documents which I am also bringing originals and extra copies of are health insurance and life insurance with me as beneficiary. My ITIN paper.

Letters from friends and family . Letter of employment from his boss.

I think that is everything.

I just want to be sure I'm ready for wednesday, any input is greatly appreciated :)

Hi everyone! We had our AOS interview this morning at 7:30am in Seattle. In went smooth, we had all of our documents in order and the IO was satisfied with all of the responses to his questions. He ended the interview with, "Everything looks good. I will do a final review of your case and you can expect something for us in the mail within 2-3 weeks". He didn't explicitly say approval and I thought it would be presumptuous to ask. The paper gave us had "Final Review" ticked. However, just now, 3 hours after our interview, our we received a notification from USCIS about our case status. It now says:

Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production

On April 9, 2013, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

This step applies to applications that result in an applicant receiving a card (such as a "green card") or other document (such as a naturalization certificate, employment authorization document, travel document, or advance parole). Applications will be in this step from the time the order to produce the card/document is given until the card/document is produced and mailed to the applicant. You can expect to receive your card/document within 30 days of the approval of your application.

Does this mean approval!? My husband has already received his EAD/AP.

Thanks!

I had my interview at the local office of Norfolk on 04/08/2013 !!! Everything went very smoothe the officer was very nice, she swore us and made us feel really comfortable !!!! She took our IDs and make sure everything was correct she went over the I-485 questions we were all laughing and having fun!!! Then she asked how we met? Did we have a long/short engagement? how often my spouse meet my parents? After she checked the documents we had the pictures, the bills, the lease, the tax return, and my school record!! After that she said I was approved everything look perfect she went over the next steps after the 2 first years and that was it!!!! Best of luck to everybody!!!!
