Hi my name is abed, I got my citizenship a month ago and now i want to file for my wife and parents, I asked a lawyer and she said "it will cost 6,500 dollars and they will be here in 9 months" now the question is, is that true??? becaues i asked around and many people told me it will take a year and a half for them to get visa's, my other question is if i file on my own how long will it take will it be the same 9 months or longer?? just to let you guy's know my parents live in jordan and my wife in lebanon my lawyer did say something about my wife being in lebanon that it might be harder!!! PLEASE ANYONE IF YOU CAN HELP ME WITH SOME INFO THANK YOU....

I'm no expert by any means, but I agree with Fatana Ansari a lawyer is not going to speed up the process. You don't need a lawyer unless you have unusual circumstances, i.e. need a criminal waiver, etc.

Just be diligent and careful with your forms and you should be fine.

I’ll close by reminding you…I’m no expert, just my humble opinion.

Year to 1 1/2 years is more in line with results seen here. It does not matter that wife and parents are in different countries. What does matter is whether you have a complex case or not; and without more info, no one here can tell.

I'd start by going over the guides here on bringing spouse on a CR-1 and the appropriate forms for parents. Study the guides and ask all question here; that is why this forum exists. Unless you have a complicated case; you should be able to do all the forms and applications yourself with relative little or no difficulties. At any question, ask here. Keep in mind that you would have to proof minimum salaries/monies/assets to support new immigrants. Because of that, and depending on your specific situation, it might be more effecgive to bring your wife first and then your parents.

Check with the specific forum of the respective countries of wife and parents, on special/specific documentation you would need for them.

In summary, take some time to understand correctly what is the process before you get started as well as complications that might surface at one point or another, and be prepared for those.

You can always consult an attorney if you would like, there are many that would give you a free initial consultation and should outline the entire process for you. Of course, you are more than free to hire one. SInce we don't have much info, it is impossible for anyone here to even start on any advice.

As I said, start with going over the guides here and understand the process well. Ask as many questions as needed.

If you are doing it from Jordan...I suggest going thru Nahda. I am using Nahda and they charge 450 Dinars to do the whole process for you. You can still do it by yourself but if you feel like you dont want to do it alone, you can use Nahda. They are two locations in Amman, one in Abdoun and one in Downtown Amman. Of course all the fees for the CR-1 you will have to pay. But other than that they are okay. Im still awaiting my NO2.

Also it will take between 6-9 months but if you do it now it could be between 3-6 months. Thats up to where you file is sent to which could be a service center or the national benfits center
