While staring down one more Christmas without my husband I am just finding myself very very sad. Watching all these approvals roll through and none for us is hard and my hopes are just in the hole right now. It's daunting to think this is only really the first step and after this we have to deal with more paperwork and waiting. I havent had facetime with my hubby since March cause we are trying to save money for the inevitable immigration costs. Blah... I wish this would move faster or it was at least a little more transparent. Staring at initial review makes me wanna tear up.

This is the hardest part. Keep the faith, si man.

The USCIS website is notoriously unreliable. An immigration officer told me that if every case were updated anytime something happened, it would crash the website. The member Gary of Gary and Alla has said that his wife made it all the way and qualified for citizenship and the website STILL said "initial review."

Hang in there, si man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Call into USCIS, get a Tier 2 Human, an ISO,

and inquire for casefile status, on the morrow.

Yer due, IMO.

Every time I call Im getting the run around. Watching all these approvals come through I just dont know whats going on with ours. They keep saying everythings fine and its being moved around but theres still no answers. Its crazy. I just watched someone here get approved in two months from Canada so I dont get it I guess. I am trying so hard ot be patient.

I'm so sorry for you and I understand how you feel. I missed my 1st wedding anniversary and thanksgiving. We're gonna be apart during Christmas, New Year and for my birthday too. We have gone through rough time and I wish we at least had the chance to meet for one day, just to feel better.

Good luck to you!

Missed our first anniversary too...oi I hate to be so gloomy. I just want him here!! lol Oi pray pray pray hard

You know, you kinda made me feel better and now I'll tell you why. I was in the States with my husband but for family reasons I had to come back in Italy in June and even though my husband asked me not to I didn't listen and came to Italy. We had to reapply and send in an I130. We thought everything would be fast and I would be back home in a couple of months but it's been 6 months now and no approval yet. I am still trying to convince myself that I am not a horrible wife for not being there for our 1st anniversary, I am trying to convince myself that if I was a little bit less "selfish" and "family oriented" my husband wouldn't be so alone right now (his family is in Chicago and we live in Augusta Ga) and would have someone to go back home to. He's working very very hard an anywhere between 12-15 hours and I feel so bad he goes back home and nobody is there to even ask him how was his day? I am so sorry he has to do everything on his own, I love cooking for him and the thought that he's constantly eating fast food makes me cringe (I am Italian afterall!!!).

It makes me feel better that at least I am not the only "horrible wife" out there.

Wish you the best luck, hope you'll see your husband soon!

 STILL says initial review. I never checked it when we were in the process, but I do occasionally now ...for grins.

FWIW be gald your do not have 8 hours difference in time zones and the Canadian among (amoung?) you can actually visit the US. My wife was treated like a reptile when she applied for a tourist visa. And the American amoung you can actually travel to a destination in Canada in one day. I needed minimum 3 days (and usually 4 days) just for travel time to get to Ukraine and back. That means a WEEK off work for 3 days with my honey! I still did it 6 times!

Si, man (for the Canadians among us: eh, man). Mrs. T-B.-to-be was never more than an hour off my time (half the year) and was just over a 5-hour flight away.

Not sure that (for example) someone in a small southern U.S. town with a tiny airport could make it to Yellowknife or some such in one day, but good point, si man. It's an even better point that natives of most countries are treated like criminal reptiles when they seek tourist visas, sigh man.
