NBC vs Local Office

Not true at all. I just got a request for evidence asking for my husbands birth certificate from the Dallas office and my hubby is not here stateside.

I think the post meant spouse as in the USC. so the the USC spouse is abroad, it stays at NBc and if the person is here, it gets sent to a local office. the reason? I cannot fathom

Ours appears to have stayed at NBC since we never received notice that it was being transferred. My husband is the petitioner and is in the U.S.

sometimes they dont send notice abt the transfer. i would not have known my file has been transferred to a local office if I hadn't called USCIS few days ago to ask. I probably would have assumed my NOA 2 came straight from NBC when it does happen(without any RFE)

They specifically state on the USCIS website that you will NOT be getting a notification of a transfer to a local office. The reason people know about their petitions at local offices is because they've called and have been told or they've received an RFE or a NOID from a local office or they've received an approval letter from a local office. Otherwise you do not know if the case is at NBC or a local office.

Is there anyway to know how far behind each local office is? I'm in Michigan so I'm sure my local office is Detroit . It would be nice to know how fast they are processing the I-130's they get from the NBC

I think the bigger cities are slower honestly. We've seen approvals from random small towns but Atlanta is slow for example. They just have more regular cases beyond these I-130s that they're now having to deal with too. Our local office is in Denver, so I know I won't have far to travel to ROC in a few years! Lol. I was always expecting this whole process to take a year from start to finish, not including moving, so anything faster is awesome. But it IS hard to be patient.
