K3 is defunct.

HI i have qu if some one apply for k3 he will have 2 interview one in the embassy and other one when he will go to US ?

Warm regards,

Why would you go with the K-3 over the CR-1/IR-1?

With the K-3, you will be paying twice the fees and have a much longer process. The K-3 is a non-immigrant visa which requires you to apply for an adjustment of status (and pay more fees). With the K-3, you are not authorized to work in the US for several months while waiting for your adjustment for a green card. You may or may not be interviewed again; sometimes an interview is required and sometimes it is not during an adjustment - no one can guess. After 6 months in the US (some people are reporting a much longer wait), you will get your green card.

With the CR-1/IR-1, you pay once for the process. Once you get to the US, you get a green card immediately. No interview. No fees to adjust your status to a green card holder. No nothing. A green card is automatic with a CR-1/IR-1 visa.

With either the K-3 or CR-1/IR-1 visas, you will need to apply to remove the conditions on your green card after two years if your marriage is less than two years when enter the US.

since you have a pending K-3 interview with the IV unit in Paris,

you need to decide what to do -

either

1. meet the interview appointment or

2. finish up with NVC Document intake and get another interview for an IR-1 visa.

DECIDE.

OK ?

note to anyone reading this - please 'study' Lover Man's prior posts.

He has a K-3 appointment, and is very confused.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
