Hi guys.

I need your advise please. What happened was. I send our AOS package on 11/23/2012. Uscis received it on 11/27 and I got my receipt numbers MSCXXXXXXXXXX on 11/29 by text and email. We have a small emergency and have to move out from the current address tomorrow (Saturday) and I am seriously worrying about the letters from USCiS not reaching us. We are moving because of really bad housemates and I am worrying they will never give us our mail. What I did so far : filled in the AR 11 form, my husband sent I 865 form with his change of address and I asked USPS to forward our mail to the new address. However I read that USCIS mail might not be redirected. I tried to change my address online and by calling the USCIS helpline but they say that my case number is not in the system yet. I was trying to change it online too for I 485 , I 131 and I 765 but it doesn't allow me to as i dont know which of the three receipt numbers I have , correspond with which of the three petitions we have pending. I really need some advice please as I am worrying that I will never get my appointment letter if my MSC number doesn't appear on their online system soon.

I also emailed the customer email address I've been given over the phone but they have 10 days to reply :( I really need them to change my address, is there any other way do that?

Thanks in advance!

Where did you read that USPS does NOT forward / redirect USCIS mail?

This is serious and I am curious about, cause I will be moving from FL yo MN in a week. I have a feeling that my GC might be approved soon.

Please let me know how I can figure this out the way you did.

Great choice on moving thou!!

Best of luck to you.

Thanks

The regular USPS change of address service won't forward government mail. USPS tell you that when you go through the change of address form online, or you can call into your post office, they will tell you.

This website seems to indicate that using the premium forwarding service WILL work, though I haven't heard that before

I'd try calling USCIS again about once a week to hear if the hardcopies has been sent and to which address.

You do not want to miss out on your biometrics appointment (or the letter) so keep checking to assure that they have the right address on file, and that the letters are indeed mailed to the new address.

USCIS/government mail is not forwarded. You can try to hold the mail at your post office if it'll work.

I am just a bit confused because I am about to move in 8 days, going to another state. 2 days ago, I saw this change on my status on the USCIS website:

"your notice I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was processed and mailed to the address on record. If you have not received it within 30 days contact customer service at 1-800-375-5283" and some words that were all scrambled, the next day, my status went back to where it was: saying that they have accepted and my case will be processed at the local NBS location, bla.. bla.. bla.. I don't know what happened.. I guess I need to call them on Monday and find out, if my case has been already approved, I should inform them my new address right way, right???

Thanks for the info.
