Actually I HAVE found the GUIDE section, but it lists 3 "documents" links I need for K1 Visa......where we have never done this before, it is quite confusing, as to EXACTLY (since we want it done properly)which documents they want for the initial application....I realize us NEWBIES must be a bother to you old hands...if that is the case perhaps you should ignore the bothersome posts and move on :)

you started off your topic with a sarcastic tone...if you want help you merely need to ask. Don't come out with guns drawn and expect people to kiss your feet. The process was and is confusing to all of us, take your time and read and re-read the guides.

but....does my fiance only have to send in the I-129F petition along with required documents, or the G-325a as well, for initial submission for Visa?? so much great info here, but also not clear as to what has to be sent to actually START the process...

For the I-129f you BOTH submit a G-325a with the I-129f petition and passport photos of BOTH of you.

and it was my mistake..copy and pasted wrong suppose to be do i need to send??

DS-156K, Non-Immigrant Fiance(e) Visa Application: This is only needed (and should be provided) by the US Embassy issuing the Visa.

DS-156, Non-Immigrant Visa Application: Only needed at once you reach the US Embassy handling the Visa. Should also be provided by them.

DS-230, Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration: Only needed by US Embassy handling the Visa. Should be provided by them also.

You are going to have to brweak down and read the guides.

You are sending a petition first, you are NOT applying for a visa YET. Those forms are for the visa not the petition.

Reaqd the insturctions and complete the process for the I-129F petition. THEN read th guides and get the information for the VISA application. After that you will have to do an AOS, ROC and Citizenship which require many more forms, but not now. Complete ONE step, then start to prepare the next step.

The K-1 is a 5 step process taking roughly 4-5 years start to finish.

Read the USCIS instructions for form I-129F: http://www.uscis.gov...i-129finstr.pdf

It will explain all in details.

The VJ guide is a summary checklist of what your US fiance needs to include in his petition package.

 Yes, both of you should read the USCIS and VJ sites so everyone (both of you) are on the same page. If you constantly over think this you might have issues or hire an attorney if you need to. Read some of the posts for K-1 and get an idea how it works.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

The I-129f is for the petitioner (USC) The petitioner has to demonstrate that he qualifies for the benefit of sponsoring the foreign fiancee who will then interview at their local consulate to obtain the visa. Like everybody else has said the guide is the map to immigration success. Best of luck!!

My best advice to you about navigating this bureaucratic hellhole:

***Read the guides. Read other people's K-1 questions. Look at people's timelines***

1) Figure out what documents you will need to send

2) Print the documents out, as well as any instructions they come with (make a note on them about where they would be mailed to, the filing fees, the evidence/paperwork they request for it, what colour to sign the paperwork in [will be either black or blue, if it doesn't specify go with blue!], etc)

3) Read everything three times

4) Highlight the important information after reading everything three times

5) Do a rough fill-out of all the documents

6) Highlight any questions you aren't sure about, or might not have the answer for at the top of your head (never leave a line blank in the paperwork, write in N/A or NONE, depending on what the instructions say. If they don't say, use your best judgement based on the context because obviously, N/A and NONE don't mean the same thing.)

7) Come back to VJ with your informed questions, make a thread, get your answers.

Good luck. The process is daunting at first, but the vast majority of people on VJ have gone through it without a lawyer (who usually fucks everything up anyway.) It can take a month or two to get yourself comfortable and have all your info together, so DO NOT rush this. You'll end up hearing from USCIS about forgetting some basic document or forgetting a signature.

Just don't think that you ONLY need those forms, as you need a bunch of other 'information' too like letters of intent, proof of having met in person, etc. Those are the 'forms' you need. But you need to assemble a whole packet. Just read the guides carefully, it really does tell you everything you need.
