I'm really new to all this. I have a question. When people is saying "touch", what does this word mean?

Thanks.

It means that when you log into the USCIS website, the dates right next to the forms you applied for changed. Meaning: if you applied for I-485, for example, and last time you checked it said "10/10/06" and you go back a few days later and it says "10/21/06", we say that it has been "touched" because someone at the USCIS has scanned your form. Sometimes it does not mean much, other times they might be approving the document or sending it to the local office, but it is considered to be a "good sign" because at least someone is "looking" into your case.

Hope this helps =)

My story:

09/23/2002 - Met Chris online, there was something very special about this guy =0)

07/16/2006 - We got married in Reno, Nevada.

USCIS:

08/13/2006 - Filed for AOS, AP, EAD - they were VERY carefully packaged with a detailed cover sheet on top of each of the forms, just as VJ's instructions recommend. It was A LOT of work, but it did pay off! (we firmly believe this is what sped up our process big time)

08/31/2006 - Biometrics appointment

09/09/2006 - Received my AOS appointment date!

10/26/2006 - EAD touched and AP APPROVED!

10/27/2006 - AOS appointment at 7:30 AM! APPROVED IN EXACTLY 70 DAYS!!!

11/01/2006 - EAD approved

11/02/2006 - Email notification - greencard will be mailed as soon as it is ready! YAY again!

11/02/2006 - Welcome to the United States of America letter in the mail! Almost there! =)

11/06/2006 - EAD card and White card (a.k.a. greencard) arrive in the mail!

Journey Total Duration: 80 days

Filed for removal of conditions on 07-28-2008 and had them removed on 09-10-2008

:(

I am getting depressed. The only 'touch' we had must have been when we were entered in the sytem 9/14.

We actually sent the petition in two months before but was send back because of an error on my husbands part.

I was hoping for a speedier approval.....but I guess I'm not one of the lucky ones.

Don't worry about being a little impatient. My wife ant I feel this too.

If it wasn't for the support of others on this website, reading about their journeys, I think at times I'd go crazy waiting for news from USCIS. Just reading about others being touched, and ultimately approved, gives me a warm ... happy feeling. It's nice knowing that someone(s) is really working at USCIS and approving petitions so that others are finally together, enjoying their life together, and that soon it will be our turn.

Yes, you are right! Every time when I read other people's successful story, I can't hold my tears. I'm so happy for those people whose cases are approved and who will soon have their life together with their loved one. And we all know eventually it will be our turn.
