Got my NOA1 by email but I thought service center is part of the receipt number. Mine starts with MSC ? Am I just getting ahead of myself?

Please verify but I think it means Missouri Service Center. I think other service centers are helping out now.

Q : What is the National Benefits Center?

The National Benefits Center was originally created as the Missouri Service

Center (MSC), which was set up to process applications associated with the LIFE

Act. On April 16, 2003, USCIS Director Aguirre approved the transition of the

Missouri Service Center (MSC) into the National Benefits Center (NBC), which

greatly expanded the scope of the Center’s operations. The NBC was primarily

established to serve as the hub and conduit for all USCIS field offices by

completing pre-interview processing of Forms generally requiring an interview.

However, evidence of our origin remains, as all Forms receipted by the NBC still

bear the receipt number prefix of “MSC.”

If they're just starting to help with the case load is that something to be concerned about?

Does that mean I won't be able to find out information on estimated completion dates and things like that? I won't be able to have any idea how long it MIGHT take then since it's not in the list of normal service centers? Their report for November 1st doesn't even show ANY I-130s on it as of yet.

I'd like to know everyone's honest thoughts about being sent to a service center that doesn't normally process these types of applications.

Pretty much everyone from August onward has been sent to the NBC minus a few on this board. There have been people who have had 64 and 54 days from their NOA1 to their NOA2 with this new system. It could be faster, but it could be slower. You most likely will not be able to check your status on the USCIS website. So sit and wait. Either way it was going to be a 5-8 month wait even if it had gone to California or Vermont. :) Pull up a chair and join the rest of the NBC and probably being shipped off to local USCIS office crowd. :) We're definitely not a small bunch. :D

It seems that everybody who was transferred has gotten different versions of the letter. Mine was sent to California first and then transferred after a few days to Missouri and now my status just says it is being processed by a USCIS office.

My chair isn't comfy either and I wish I had a new one :D lol

LOL - It's the uncomfortable chair club! My 4 year old asks "Is that confderdy?" or says "This is comfderdy!" He hasn't quite figured out how to pronounce the word correctly!

I AM IN THE SAME SITUATION AS YOU AND SINCE WHEN I GOT RECEIPT NUMBER I DID NOT GOT ANY THING TILL NOW 12/20/2012

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
