230 days later our file is approved!!!!!!!!! I went to Atlanta for a infopass appointment this morning. The man that I saw today confirmed that the file was in the Atlanta office, but it was not a guarantee that he could find it. At first he told that our file was filed away in a box somewhere because they did not have enough shelf space for all 5000 files in there office. He said that if he could find it he would go ahead and approve it if everything was in there that needed to be in the file. It took him 15 minutes to locate it and then another 15 minutes to go through the file and approve it. So I guess if I didn't go in for a infopass my file would have sat there collecting dust for another 4 or 5 months. Truly our I-130 has been floating around the country for almost 8 months now and this man picked it up and had it approved in 15 minutes. I'm on cloud 9 today.

I am in exactly the same situation as you, I've given up calling USCIS for now as they really can't tell you anything helpful.

@Vanvasek , Maree, and all those still waiting at Atlanta,

I don’t think calling USCIS will help in away. This worked for me and some other folks on this forum, and If I were you, I will do the following again immediately:

  1. Call the offices of both state Senators (Chambliss, and Isakson) and tell them what is going on. They will surely tell you to send them a privacy release form so that they can follow up on your case. Don’t wait for them to send you the forms by mail. Visit their website, download the form, complete it, and fax or email it to them. (Privacy Release Form link for Chamblis: http://www.chambliss.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/privacy-release-form; Privacy release form for Isakson: http://www.isakson.senate.gov/public/_cache/files/6c85a37a-1f8d-4ca2-b998-0d07cb170168/Privacy%20Release%20Form.pdf) You can complete all these steps in a day. After they receive it, give them a few days (maybe 2-3 days to contact Atlanta USCIS), and call their offices to follow up if there is any response from USCIS. Please keep in mind that they are doing the same work for a lot of people so it could take time before they get back to you. So what does that mean? You need to call them to check on the status of your inquiry. Yes, I repeat, call them at least twice a week to talk to your case worker for updates. Unless they give you a specific date to call back, I will call them about twice a week to check.(Do this for both senators simultaneously).
  1. Make an info pass appointment and go to the Atlanta office, and check. This is not the best as it doesn’t yield any results in the past but judging from “omar&Jessica’s” comment posted yesterday at 6:11pm, you can also give it a try and see if you will be lucky too.

Good luck!!!!!

Hi Mrs. Rai!

I called this morning, and there is still no case number sad.png

They did tell me it was received at NVC on July 11th, and then takes anywhere up to three weeks to get scanned in and assigned a case number.

Please let me know when you get yours and I'll let you know when I get mine!!

Hi Treva,

My husband called just a few hours ago and he got our case number.

You should have yours too.

Maybe you should try calling again, good luck!!! smile.png

I do think it was sheer luck. I don't think I have ever read of a person going in for a infopass and getting approval. Bit if you go in they have to get the file out and look at it and if they get it out at least it's not sitting in a box. The man said that they have over 1000 cases in box's because they don't have enough room on there shelves

I hope so too. Yes I encourage everyone that can make infopass to do so. I thinking the Atlanta office is having major issues and I would highly recommend checking on your file. I talked with a tier 2 many times and you won't believe the ####### they told me. And the whole time my file was sitting in Atlanta untouched

Here is my detail:

NOA 1 of priority date 11-19-12 at MSC

No notification. So I called and talk to officer on July 17. When I asked "where exactly my file located". I got reply "it has been transfered to Atlanta in January". As of yet, I am still waiting. I did submit inquiry on this file on July 17. Due date for inquiry is August 1 but he said to give it few weeks after tht. I do have info pass set up for August 6. Does any one have any prediction when I should be expecting to receive approval?

So I had my Infopass appointment today, and that was pretty much a waste of time unfortunately.

All they said is "the paperwork has been transferred to the atlanta office, but we don't know when we will beable to process it." And all she said multiple other times is we have over 5000 cases on file this year so far and we are behind.

I told her our paperwork was submitted in November of 2012, and we haven't heard a single word about our paperwork, we were never notified our paperwork was even moved to the atlanta office or anything. She could not even provide me a estimated date on when it will even be processed either. She said if we need to "expedite" our case, we can "request" it by mailing the office, and if it is approved they will work on it.

All I want is current and upto date information on my case, why is it so difficult....

So i told her, i will see her in a few more weeks, because I will be making another appointment until I get a answer that is actually acceptable.
