We placed our first service call today and we were told that my hubs was still in the background checking stage (uh duh...). We will get a response within 15 days. They also told us that local processing time was 4 months. Our 9 month mark will be June 19 sad.png

Have you gotten any response to your spouse's background check? Please share your response, because our case is pending a background check also.

on Sept 21 2012 our packet was received...765, EAD, i485. We got the card for travel/work right on schedule and have heard nothing since. At the time everyone seemed to be saying it would take around 9 months. We are now less than two weeks from the 9 month mark. Starting to get a little worried. Why in the name of God does this take so long? We are married, living together, joint bank accounts, etc, etc. We are a normal, legit married couple. At what point do we start to worry? Anything I should be doing now or just keep waiting? It really is absurd that this takes so long. Any advice other than keep waiting? Thanks and good luck to everyone!

We are one week behind you (Sept 25, 2012) and anxious as well. Everything I follow on VJ and USCIS leads me to believe that you will hear something in about 2-4 weeks especially if your case is being processed at the NBC and you may not even have an interview. Hang in there, my friends, and know you are not alone. Keep us updated and we'll do the same....

Everyone who filed in September (except those who had interviews at the local office - different process) is in the same boat...I don't believe they have even started processing Sept. applications yet. In my opinion there is nothing to worry about...they are just incredibly slow (surprise!).

Agrabs that is so unfortunate! Glad you are filing a complaint. I have heard of isolated instances of your experience before...and I remember someone suggesting to bring along with other travel documents a printout of USCIS's site showing the rules about the combo card. Too late now...but if others read this post it might help them avoid trouble. It is beyond ridiculous that such a step would even be necessary!

I have heard of isolated instances of your experience before...and I remember someone suggesting to bring along with other travel documents a printout of USCIS's site showing the rules about the combo card. Too late now...but if others read this post it might help them avoid trouble. It is beyond ridiculous that such a step would even be necessary!

The crazy thing is even after we showed the information from the USCIS website that explains what the a/p combo card is and explains how it replaced the I-152 advanced parole paper, She was still convinced that we needed to have the paper I- 512. I dont' think it would have mattered what other documents or information we had with us - she only wanted to see a I-152.

At one point she was yelling at us -"why don't you understand - you dont have travel papers"

Ugh, that is something I am concerned with.

Are you going home any time soon? We were going to try to go back to Romania in September. I would hope that he would have his green card by then, but the way things are going who knows? It all comes down to how knowledgeable the airline employees are - if they understand the combo card has replaced the I512.

I think we were just unlucky.

No not yet. On Thursday it will be 15 days.

I haven't read agrabs story yet - I'm afraid to :s We would like to go back to England in December. My husband's passport is set to expire this month but he doesn't want to renew for fear that it will get lost as his K-1 Visa stamp is in it. So now we are forced to wait it out. Ugh - this is so frustrating!!!!

I received the following response from the Ombudsman's office:

A check of USCIS systems shows that the file in question was transferred from the National Benefits Center (NBC) to the Hialeah Field Office on June 6, 2013. It will take a few days for the file to reach the field office and be received in for interview processing. You and the petitioner should be receiving an interview notice with date and time of their interview within the next thirty (30) days. If you don't receive the notice you should make an InfoPass appointment at that office.

What this mean.? Are they serious about this,after 9 months wait they are going to take interview, We don't have any problem, me and my wife ready for interview too. I filed In. sept.10/2012.
