I can't believe the guy took four hits with a .45 and was still struggling. Methinks he was on something.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff's spokesman Greg Phares says Officer Brian Harrision was escorting a funeral procession Friday when he pulled Temple over and wrote him a ticket for breaking into the procession. According to Phares, that's when Temple attacked Harrison. Police say Perry Stevens was walking outside of the Auto Zone on Greenwell Springs Road when he heard Harrison yelling for help. Harrison was reportedly on his back with Temple on top of him. That's when Stevens went to his car and grabbed his .45 caliber pistol.

According to Col. Greg Phares, "[Mr. Stevens] orders Mr. Temple to stop and get off the officer. The verbal commands are ignored and Mr. Stevens fires four shots, all of which struck Mr. Temple."

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

Has there been any explanation for this? Or did they get away with it because they are cops?

Over the weekend they officially acknowledged that all 9 people were hit by police rounds or shrapnel from police rounds.

Neither officer had ever discharged a firearm in the field before this.

I read that they acknowledged it. Did they decide to go nuts one day and make up for lost time where they could have been shooting people?

Its one of the reasons I'm not sure I could ever conceal carry. When the threat appears, you have to identify the target and whats beyond the target and you have to make a life and death decision very quickly. These guys appear to have failed in checking the backstop situation.

Its a lot easier to do when hunting because you can take your time- the deer isn't shooting back - and there are not lots of people milling about.

It's one of the reasons I love America. For all the discussions about gun control, there is a story like this; a normal guy going about his business and using his gun as a last resort (he went back to his truck and then issued a challenge to the assailant).

I agree. Of course you remember everyone's input on the Aurora incident, it isn't as clear cut as some people make it out to be. This man in Baton Rouge took a risk and it paid off. Rather him than us, eh? ;)

if he hit the dude 4 times with a 45 and the guy is still moving, he hit him in the 4 wrong places.

Actually the article says that the CCW holder hit him four times in the torso, after the cop had shot him one time in the stomach. Took a head shot to finish him.
