I believe police clearance (other countries) as well as NBI are good for 12 months? Would be best to obtain closer to the projected interview date either way. Why send beneficiary birth certificate with the I-129F?

It will be asked for by USCIS Eventually, why not sent it now and keep a Copy anyway. No promises about speeding up a NOA2 in the process but supplies more infor to the Service Center in charge of the Case before it reaches Manila for a MNL#. Just a push along.

I'm from the US my fiancé is from the Phillipines. We met online in march 6 months ago. I went to the phillipines on July1-16th.

Should we file for a K1 with me only having made one trip there? Do I need to make another trip to better the chances of getting approved?

You should absolutley apply as soon as you can. I was in the Philippines around the same time as you and mailed our application on July 20, 2012. One visit is just fine, just make sure that you have the evidence of your trip and all of the supporting documents. Good luck.

I Looooooove my baby Lyn.

It doesn't 'push anything along' to send in the foreign fiance(e)'s birth certificate with the I-129F petition. It is not required for the petition, period.

OP> File now and you will have plenty of time for another visit while you wait for the I-129F petition. Then, you will have 2 in person visits to present as evidence of your relationship at the K-1 visa interview. The guide and flow chart here on VJ shows what documents are required and when you need them (someone else let you know of the links in their signature that shows exactly what is needed for Manila):

Are you guys engaged? If so, and have the other main requirements go for it, the sooner you submit the sooner you will get approved. If you make more trips just take many pics (with family) and save as much evidence of an on-going relationship.

Both of you take a look at the guides on VJ and USCIS, that will help you in the long run to double check each other and not get confused with the step at hand vs the up coming requirements. Take a gander at the Philippines section and issues they have had, you will need particular information four your adventure. the people have have dealt with issues there are your best resource. Lastly congratulations, and save everything until it is needed.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

As long as you have some pictures, boarding passes, itinerary and receipts then file now. Proof of meeting once is all you need. Good luck

I have all that and have read and read again on what is needed but had a guy who just recently went through all this and has his fiancé here now tell me I needed the police report and birth certificate for the I-29F petition. I tried to tell him it wasn't in the guideline info here but he insisted. I hadn't read beyond the I-29F info. One step at a time lol

Thanks for all the advice. We are excited!!!!

I have read conflicting reports from others over the last couple of years. However, I am not sure where people get this information, or why your friend would insist this. There is a rationale behind all of this. USCIS adjudicators have the responsibility of reviewing petitions, confirming requirements have been met, approving, and sending the petition on its way to its destination. An RFE could be given for anything that the adjudicator believes is missing or is needed to determine whether or not the petition should really be approved. People get approved all the time by simply following the instructions of the I-129F, and if needed, the guides here. Many petitioners with Filipino beneficiaries on here have had their petitions successfully approved without sending anything other than what was requested per instructions. If it gives you more peace of mind, you can wait to acquire those documents and send them with the petition if you want. I am nearing the time when I should be expecting NOA2. It could take a couple more months, but it is getting close nonetheless. You will probably have sent your petition by then, but I will let you know what happens anyway (whether they approved it or not). I didn't send beneficiary birth certificate or police records with the petition.

Thanks for the info Todd. I will disregard what that guy says from here on out. Best of luck and keep me informed on how it goes!

No you don't need to make another trip. I applied after one trip and I just got my NOA2 a few days ago. As long as your relationship is valid and you have proof of your visit you should be fine. I applied within one week after I visited.

I would advise to file now, the process takes long enough.

Read and read again....triple check everything and you shouldn't have any problems....

Good Luck!
