This is one you don't see everyday.

dolphinp.jpg

On a small island 100 miles from Tokyo islanders, mostly fishermen, have declared resident dolphins to be citizens, fully protected while in the island's waters.

This tiny island is called Toshima Island. The fishermen there want to show the world how some Japanese revere and protect while dolphins. A long time Japanese ally, Elsa Nature Conservancy, has pledged to help Toshima Islanders educate Japan about the wonders of wild dolphins.

On Sept. 1st of this year the annual dolphin slaughter will take place in Taiji Cove, Japan. Japan is a nation where up to 20,000 dolphins are killed yearly. So a new development recently in Japan is wonderful news in stark contrast as to what usually goes on in Japan.

In many parts of the world citizens have married inanimate objects too. Some lady married the Berlin Wall. In the PNW a young lady married a building in protest of gentrification really. Wasn't there someone in the States who wanted to marry their dog or tiger too?

The Dolphins are the second most intelligent species on the planet Earth, and knew of Earth's imminent destruction and tried to communicate this to humans who misinterpreted it as entertaining tricks. The last ever Dolphin message was misinterpreted as a surprisingly sophisticated attempt to do a double-backward somersault through a hoop while whistling the "Star Spangled Banner," but was, in fact, a message: So long, and thanks for all the fish.

And the dolphins are known to be the only other species to derive pleasure from sex like humans do.
