My mom had interviewed yesterday for Tourist Visa in US Manila Embassy but they denied her and the reason why they denied her, it is because she is strong.. I cannot believed it, she has all the documents and they never look at it and becuase she travel in different country before and has business small business, they will denied her because she is STRONG LADY!

VJ Members, do you think we will apply again Tourist Visa? We want here to visit us for HOliday Season and see her new grandson.

Certainly in most Consulates there is no limit to the frequency and number of applications someone can make. It seems that some Consulates do have restrictions.

They would not have denied her because she is a strong lady, most likely because she did not satisfy the requirement to show non immigrant intent.

RIGHT! Im so mad that is the reason they gave! I think they were thinking she will working in US as illegal.

What does being a strong lady have to do with anything?

The thing is they never look the documents she has, like Bank Statements or property.

Are you sure they didn't say her evidence was not strong enough?

They are thinking she wont return to the P I. Until she changes that thinking by proving she will she wont be granted a tourist visa. If she is as "strong" as you say she will use that strength to obtain her visa.

All she has to do is overcome the history of fraud committed by the thousands of others that created the difficult situation she finds. Thats where the strength comes in.

She could apply back and hopefully this time the consul would check her supporting documents. I remember last 5 years ago, it also happened to me. I was bringing original copy of real estates property documents (lots and buildings) all in my names, work employment certificate, bank passbook with good amount of deposits with very good cash flow, business license... all in my names.. and my passport shows that I had traveled to Australia, Canada, Singapore, Japan, Korea and Hongkong...all for visits -- but, the consul didn't even bother to see it. Just looking at me, still young and strong --- immediately denied me. Maybe they were thinking that I won't be coming back to the PI. I never had overstayed in all my previous trips and never intend to work illegally as I have a good stable job and same time managing my own business. I learned some women -- got approved without even bringing some supporting documents to show. They got approved sometimes because of age factor -- if they look quite old already --- although, not always the case. I just feel sometimes it is LUCK...or the MOOD of the consul during the interview -- so better try next time ! :)

Early this year, I finally was able to visit the US thru K-1 visa. But, didn't get a good outcome -- I had to come back home before my 1-94 expires. I just felt not marrying at the moment because of not so good issues I experienced while as I was there. Of course, I thank God for having been in the US -- it was fun and enjoyable then-- thank God for all the blessings ! :)

Good luck to your mom again -- just don't give up !

You shouldn't focus too much on what the meaning of strong means in this case. Could be many.

Could be a simple opinion that she appeared to be a strong lady but CO regrets s/he must reject the visa.

Could be that she is a strong candidate for visa overstay.

Could be that CO felt s/he must reject this time but CO felt your mother is a strong candidate for next time after satisfying some requirements.

Strong could be a compliment regarding her physical appearance, simple conversation.

For Tourist visa your mother needs to respond to every question asked in such a way to give the CO the confidence that she will not and she will have no reason, circumstance, or temptation to overstay.

Recently my mother in law was approved for a tourist visa in Cambodia. I was lucky enough to be let in to the interview area but was not asked anything. She had answered some of the questions wrong. If I were the CO I probably would not have approved my mother in law's visa. However, her age helped her considerably and her reasoning to visit us and our newborn baby was compelling enough for the CO.

How old is your mother in law? I am planning for my parents to apply for tourist visa. They dont have savings in the bank or properties but they are in their 70's. I think what the OP meant about "strong" is being physically strong.

Check the cost of Travel Insurance. It can be more than the airfare at that age.

I checked quotes and it's not really that expensive. If granted, they will only stay here for a month.
