He doesn't have to be there, but can accompany you if he would like to. However he will be in the waiting room and now allowed back where you are doing the fingerprints.

I do not think that he is obligated to go with you, my husband went with me but I just used him to hold my paperwork lol I guess its a good emotional support? I took with me my marriage certificate too, just in case they would say something about the change of last names, letter for NOA1's and for biometrics (they will stamp it saying that you were that at that date and that you completed your biometrics), passport...Also if you have like an state I.D or Driver's license from here I'd say to take it with you or even the SSN in case you are also getting your GC, EAD/AP with the married name, they could ask for it as I've seen other people's stories. Better safe than sorry, right?

Good luck with it! (F)

I did not go with my wife to her biometrics.

I don't think anything is needed apart from appointment letter and your ID(DL or passport etc) :star:

I went by myself, no problem.

I would recommend that you bring your marriage certificate with you if you changed your name after marriage. I added my husband’s last name and used my new name for AOS so my passport didn't match my appointment letter. I was asked for proof of name change such as the marriage certificate.

Also note, if you are a woman, they won't let you take your purse in the building. Atleast they didn't let me do it in Atlanta...so you may want to plan for that.

If your husband does accompany, he will need his ID as well. They will ask for it before letting you in the building.

Total elapsed time between filing I-129F to GC in hand 569 days or 1 Year, 6 months, 22 days.
