Just some thought about networking with VJs in the same City

We all have been through a lot to make this far. Congrats on the ones who have successfully moved to the U.S. I was just thinking that for the first couple months in the states, we might experience some degree of "loneliness" as we would be away from our family, friends and the environment we are familiar with. If we can set up some new group for the VJs who stay in the same city would be something fun to see. While your partner is gone to work, you can contact those VJs to go out for a drink or something.

I would love to do that especially with someone who has the similar experience.

Let VJs be your first new friends at the beginning of your new life in the states.

Not stupid at all! A group of us in the January 2012 I-129F thread have talked about doing a meet-up once our fiancé(e)s have all arrived in the U.S. It may be worthwhile to start a thread in the "New Life in America" forum for others to see. I know there are similar thread from VJers looking for people in their new areas.

Anybody is moving to Maine ? That is my greatest worry, to feel alone in the first months and it would be super nice to meet people who had gone through the same journey

I know when I make the move, I'll probably be bored and lonely while my Fiance is at work, at least until I am able to work and find a job.

Unfortunately I'll probably have no way to get around since I won't have a car for a while, and there's no public transportation where I'll be living besides taxis

I think this is a great idea. Kind of a welcome wagon to tell you about the area and new processes. For instance, what to expect at the DMV and where you can find specific or similar products. Even providing background information on finding a new doctor or dentist or chiropractor and such would be a huge help. I know it would have been much easier if there had been someone I could ask for recommendations. We don't even have to do this in person. We could just post about it.
